Mine seems to have gone since the new back box was fitted last year, I guessed it might have dropped off somewhere, but I would like to replace it. Has anyone ordered one before and can it easily be re-fitted to the car.

Cheers

Gianni

TADTS. I think it's a clam-off job to replace it and it will only fall off again.

Yeah clam off to do a proper job. The heat shield and the mesh are a single piece from Vauxhall (actually 2 pieces welded) so you need to get the clam off and bond in the new piece the from the back.

It will fail again eventually as the welded joint is a weak spot.

Alternative is to get another heat shield and reweld/glue to the existing clam mesh in situ.

The single most hateful job on a vx. I'd rather change 50 fuel tanks than do a rear mesh again.

No.

I have it on now for 2 years.

Not even my 300hp no cat system does not melt it.

Pretty impressive.

8 years and counting on mine. It's survived longer than any of the numerous exhausts I've had and hasn't as much as singed the number plate.

Would this be the sort of thing to use for the "rubber tube" fix?
