Apart from the pricy Larini sports cat section here what are my alternative options for an off the shelf sports cat pipe that will mate up to my Larini back box and a 2.5'' front pipe? I know the standard VXT bore is 2.5 anyway but I don't really want the hassle of having a universal one welded in. Any one know of others and can post a link or have one themselves they may want to sell? Also there seems to be loads of choice for a primary pipe. I believe any of these to name a few should be fine as a pre cat delete? Toyosports and on ebay (Will probably go for this one) Cobra sport (Any benefit in one piece construction, worth the extra?) LMF Vauxhall Courtenays (Expensive) Larini (Again expensive but maybe the nicest quality)

I'm not sure what u mean ? U have listed the pre cat down pipe replacement but seems like u want a 200cell main cat replacement which is £810 for larini If this is what u need you might want to try the larini decat it's only £355 and much cheaper than the 200 cell option, plus u can have flames too http://www.elise-sho...s-p-354095.html If it's the pre cat (turbo down pipe) any if the above will be fine

Thought I was pretty clear? You're right I am after a 200 cell cat section equivalent to the Larini but preferably half the price. Although I have a friendly MOT tester I don't want a full decat.

Not sure u have many choices as miltek only seem to sell cat back or full system with 200 cell cat which u don't need Cheapest option is to get a custom one made up from someone like powerflow they they will insert a 200 cell for like half the price of a larini http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk

I have a larini/ miltek combo, larini back box, miltek down pipe and miltek 100 cell cat, can't recall the price of the cat off the top of my head, although pretty sure it was cheaper than the larini.

Buy the larini decat and you can get a weld in 200 cel cat for about £80.

Do you get through MOT emissions with a 100 cell? Who supplied you with just the cat section on its own? I've found this site that lists the sections for sale seperatly and it's coming out at a still fairly steep £591 with delivery. So it does look like there is only the two options for a complete ready to fit 2.5'' solution? I did read about a reasonably priced Blue Flame one but they seem to have disapeared / be unavailable now.

Apart from it being shiny and new I don't think there is any real benefit in getting that over just working with the OEM pipe is there? Same layout and diameter so it should be just as easy to cut the standard cat out and replace with a similar sized high flow.? Even if it means adding in another short stretch of pipe to bring it back up to the same length. If I can get hold of a used OEM cat section (I'll place a wanted post) I think I'm going to go that route, so Toyosports front pipe > OEM main pipe with 200 cpi cat welded in > Larini back box. Should work well shouldn't it? Anyone got any particular recommendation for a weld in universal sports cat or are they all pretty much as good as each other?

Absolutely agree, improvements of Larini downpipe will be 1-2bhp or so. The best options for the vx depending on budget are to hack out the precat and weld a 200 main cat in, or go the whole hog with a trick manifold etc but even then for the circa £1500 cost the bhp/£ ratio is expensive. Biggest benefit to a fancy system is probably the weight reduction! Magnaflow cats are good vfm.

Never had any problems with m.o.t and I've had the cat for good few years, I think I ordered the cat and down pipe separately from Thorney Motorsport, you're right though I'm sure the cat was around £500 so not exactly cheap.
