I'd be surprised if you've got it and didn't know - if it's too loud for road use (hence "Track-Day Only" stamped on it), it should be really loud compared to the standard one. Also, I think they pop and crackle a lot on the overrun.

Yeah not chrome looking but Jim's right you should be able to tell quite easily. I don't have one but have seen one on one of Wayne's VX's. if you have it then you're a lucky owner! :D

The Vxl sports ex has black tips, makes one hell of a noise, and pops and bangs like a good'un. If your exhaust is making more noise have it checked for blowing! Mike ;)

cheers fellas - mine hasn't got black tips - but is a darker chrome than my old one. it doesn't pop or bang. not unduly worried if it is indeed blowing as i prefer how it sounds to my other as it is :D. thanks again. paul.

If it is blowing you need to sort it.

And regal on the Yellow = Minime

i have the vauxhall sports exhaust fitted and the differences are that the standard exhaust has dummy tail pipes over smaller diametre outlets and is chrome, where as the sports exhaust has two full size pipes and is matt black. And also sounds fecking great, but i'm not biased or anything. :D

One of the guys who was at Palmersport with me had the Vauxhall sports exhaust and I was quite surprised on closer inspection how corroded it was.

Thats why I was trying to get the Courtenay one in time but unfortunately its too later for my car as they fitted the Vauxhall Sports Exhaust yesterday to her. Just heard back from them with this response:-

Our exhaust is road legal, like the factory one it has the "for track use only" label on it this was for getting around TUV in Germany, not for any legal stipulations in the UK. As I said our one is identical to the factorys sports box so the DB rating should be identical. However it is cheaper beacuase its not going through Lotus and Vauxhalls hands.

 This looks the same as the standard as well Ie chrome finish mmmmmm nice

May be a silly question, but as I am a noob, does fitting a sports exhaust effect fuel economy, if so by how much? at the moment I get about 200 miles per tank, what would I get with an exhaust change? as I drive 100 miles a day and I want a sports exhaust, if it makes it worse on fuel I may consider getting another car just for work.

I used have the satandard exhaust and then got the sports put on a couple of months back. Not noticed any drop in fuel economy...but I did notice that I have a bigger grin when driving than before!! :D Mani
