My speedometer goes to max speed when turning on ignition and stays there until I turn off the ignition at which time the needle goes back to null.
This of course means that it does not show correct speed.
My car is a VX220 Turbo 2005 with only 12000 miles on it. When driving I can see that once I have picked up some speed and then go slower the needle goes back down accordingly and then back upwards when I then increase speed again.
For me this indicates that the sensor in the left back wheel gives correct speed signal at speed.
I have tried to do the speedometer instrument reset
1. Unlock car
2. open door
3. press and hold odometer reset button.
4. turn on ignition while still holding the odometer reset button.
I can see that the instrument reset and I can read the version of it. This however does not solve my problem.
I have read that problems with the speedometer can be a shortcut by the wires in the transmission tunnel but in my mind then it would not give indication upwards and downwards at speed.
Can it be a problem with the soldering in the instrument or a connector which is loose behind it?
Have anyone else had the same problem and how did you solve it?
