I might have one available in a month or so if you don't need a pair? I currently have a set of black leather standard type (in as new condition less than 1k mile of use) but have just got a Motorsport shell I'm going to get trimmed to match my passenger so I can fit a harness to the drivers side.

Pete, yes one would be fine. Its potentially for a Euro trip later in the year, so mostly just the driver seat I need.

Feel free to PM when you know what's what with it..

Will do dude.

The probax is by far the most comfy seat for the car. I did 4000 euro miles in a week in a rock hard sprung S1 with probax and it was fine. An hour in my old standard VX seats left me crippled!!!

Here's my current drivers seat, you can see what I mean about the condition.

They are really nice, but if you put a something proudly branded Lotus Sport in a plastic Vauxhall, will you not be immediately smited by the lightweight sportcar Gods?

I know a guy selling a pair of Probax Exige like those ones in cloth. They have the lotus logos but they are in really excellent condition and he's a trustworthy seller. PM me if you want details.

Do a little research into what Probax is.  It ain't fairy dust, it's a Y shaped piece of different density foam - or at least that's what Dave the Trimmer told me, when retrimming my pair with Probax style foam for £700.  Very content with the comfort of the end result.

I spoke to someone at allon White who said the same. It's not the material but rather how it's put down with different densities in different areas of the seat or something.

Seats from an Elise / Exige are also slightly more reclined than VX seats, hence a bit more comfortable potentially due to that. Of course you could probably replicate this with some spacer washers under the seat subframe front bolts..

They are definitely more reclined, and the non-harness seats have a higher headrest so I took the foam bits off the metal restraints in order to get the seats sliding back further.

If you are going for ultimate comfort the standard s2 Elise seats are the most comfortable the none probax 2001-2005 era ones. Probax look pretty but ultimately they are not as comfy as the basic seats for me. Handy for the harnesses though which is my only reason for keeping mine. You'll be lucky to drop on any leather ones for under £1400 and I think with hindsight sending your seats to DTT and having custom stitching etc would better and cheaper.

I find my Probax far far comfier than standard VX seats. Different strokes for different folks.

How expensive (ball park) would it be to partially re-trim the probax's on eBay? I.e change the yellow leather for black?

I recently got quoted 400 per seat (not probax) but this included all new material (alcantara and leather). I asked for a price to just stitch together if I gave material and got quoted 150 per seat. It will depend on what material you choose and how much you will need to do the job you want.

Leather dye would turn the yellow to black.

Foxy had a seat that was dyed from Orange to Black.

Not perfect, but with time and additional dye I'm sure it would be fine.
