Why does it take you so long? Theres only 6 cap screws? takes about 30 seconds to undo them.

Undoing is easy although previous owner had glued 2 in Doing up is the hard part especially as the plastic filler tube part where the nuts sit it is broken/cracked around some of the nuts due to abuseWhy does it take you so long? Theres only 6 cap screws? takes about 30 seconds to undo them.

Challenging job this when it come sto the last bolt.
Have the wheelarch liner and boot liner out for maximum access. It appears there is a plastic ring retaining the nuts at the back of the surround.
The bottom bolt at 6 o'clock is spinning its nut. The plastic retainer appears split at the bottom so without cutting it away its impossible to get a grip on the nut with pliers, spanner, socket or molegrips.
I have tried plenty of WD40 etc and patience waiting for it to sink in.
As the liner would be out if ever anyone took the filler surround off I am thinking my only option is to cut away the retaining plastic.
I don't favour grinding out the bolt from the top because the nut will still spin if I try to fit the new stainless bolt. And it will not help next time this has to come off.

Thanks for the link Wolfstone. The pictures clarified one point
The nut on the back of my spinning bolt is missing. Thankfully it's the one at about 6 o'clock so at least access isn't so bad.
It just leaves the bolt spinning quite freely in the filler cap surround.
I'm working out how to get enough pressure on the inside end of the bolt to allow it to unscrew itself from the surround.
It's playing hard to get so far.
Once I get it out I can find a way to insert the new stainless bolt and attach a nylock nut to it.
