Stumbled across a thread recently about the eds manifold and its benefits for higher power cars. Doesn't seem much info on here when searching but one one particular owner seemed to really rate the upgrade. As we all know turbo stage 4's delivery is on the savage side but this manifold is supposed to help with a smoother power delivery, a wider power band and extra power higher end. Do many stage 4 owners have this manifold and agree with the benefits it gives that I have mentioned?

I fitted one recently, I like it!   Here's a link, my comments on the manifold are about half way down this post http://www.vx220.org...eavy/?p=1791466

yes

Makes me wonder why all stage 4+ cars don't upgrade to this then, unless a smoother delivery is a bad thing 😄

You're the owner I was referring to 😊 Great rebuild thread by the way, seriously fair play and well done to you.

I noticed a big difference when I upgraded to a Klassen manifold but I also fitted a 3" exhaust at the same time. A lot smoother now :)

I have the real eds (not the ebay one) and fits perfectly with my MMG big tophat, no issues with clearance. Sorry for all the links - here's a pic of the top hat, it might be a bit lower than the Courtney tophat http://www.vx220.org...eavy/?p=1789627

How much was that manifold and any issues with the boot clearance? Eds manifold is just over 400 quid from Regal I think.

It was a long time ago now when I bought it and had it fitted by MMG,think it was a year ago and I paid £500 from Courtney's? No problems with boot clearance and it fitted fine

My was new, but from a member on here who never got round to fitting it, so saved some pennys. You can get a thicker thermal inlet gasket too, most come with longer studs to accommodate the wider gasket

the less  money you can give to lageR the better, otherwise you are simply encouraging them and that's just wrong!

;) if there is another source for similar price I agree. Would there be any benefit of doing this though with only a 2.5" system and 100 cell cat? In the old days on here it seemed the 2.5" systems would suffice for a 300 bhp stage 4 vxt, nowadays talk seems to suggest a 3" system is required!

What power is yours making at the moment? This manifold "makes" more power by shortening the length of the runners and making them a bit tapered. This is at the "expense" of losing some low end torque. So you will only really see any benefit from about 5000 RPM onwards if you turbo/map can still puff air into the engine at that RPM. FYI, the EDS manifold is a direct copy from a previous incarnation of a manifold for a different Vauxhall engine. I don't think a great deal of science/experimentation went into it's design personally. The Klassen manifold had some flow analysis done on it and went through several prototypes with a spec of being used on 300 to 500 BHP engines.

The only torque I lost was the torque spike when the turbo spools up. Which is "bad" torque....

Instead I have a smoother torque curve peaking at ~335ft/lb

Nev, have sent you pm. And T VXT, that's what makes this mod appealing if it smooths out the delivery, few extra horses would be an added bonus :)

When I fitted the Klassen manifod to my +2 stage, you certainly could see the short coming and advantages of this manifold. Low down torque certainly dropped off ( I would say anything up to 4000 RPM, because of the short runners), while upper end breathing was certainly inproved. Now that the map has gone in to compliment the new turbo and 3" exhaust I will have to await my conclusions, until I find out the problem with the main ECU or wiring.
