I was making these out of aircraft kydex. I wanted to try the carbon fibre type kydex, but it's either unavailable or stupidly expensive in the UK.
It's used for loads of tactical and weapons gear in the states so I put this on hold knowing I was going to the sports car racing in Daytona in September (which was fecking awesome btw) and brought some home.
Above is an untrimmed mock up I made to try the CfK. I found ppl want anything from a few buttons as seen here to a myriad of gauges so I've changed how I'm working this.
I'll make the centre brace sides, plus a removable front in any width (straight like this or tapered like earlier ones) then ppl can do their own thing with gauges etc.
The carbon isn't a print or separate layer, it's part of the kydex and is very hard wearing and scratch resistant, it can be painted or lacquered if you want a glossy finish. The front can be easily drilled, holesawed, jigsawed etc to fit gauges.
I'll make one up properly that can hold gauges in the next few days.

I've made 2 front panels, one just for buttons that's a similar width to the alloy centre brace and a tapered one to mount gauges, controllers, buttons etc on that is 70mm wide at the top, 50mm at the bottom.
I'm only going to make 5 and that's it, so if you fancy one PM me.
The front facias will be supplied BLANK, I've cut out 50mm holes in this one pictured to give an idea of how it could look. I am assuming these will go on modded cars and therefore you know how to use jigsaws and drills or whatever to cut holes to suit what you want to mount.
The sides will be held on by black star screws or at a small extra cost countersunk aluminium screws as shown. The material is rigid so you can cut out the triangles if you desire without weakening it much.
Shown below with an alloy centre brace for scale. The angles are slightly different as the alloy brace doesn't fit the gearstick console very well, I've made this a good tight fit so Velcro or dbl sided tape can hold it without drilling. A shaped piece of cfkydex to delete the interior light is included.
I'll do these for £75 plus postage by PayPal., plus any additional cost if you want me to supply/fit buttons or countersunk screws etc. and pop any left on EBay later this week.

Maybe should've auctioned one and let it find a price, but its essentially just two sides and front and you do your own thing with them, it would be closer to £100 with brackets, buttons, shaped recesses, screws and wiring. I guess I'm not really making anything on them as I lugged this stuff from the states and made a few that ended up in the bin, but I was going to make one for myself anyway.Work of art. Surely at 75 notes that's a bit on the cheap side (look at what UC knock carbon out at!) So tempted. I've got an ally brace that sits onto the tunnel, but the gauges are hard to see being further down. Hmmm......

Bugger it, I'll have one off you.
I'll probably sell my ali brace on to pay for it (or just put the ali one in the loft as a 'spare' like I seem to do with everything else ....)
