Hi,

I tried to start my VX220 for the first time in about 3 weeks today to discover it had a flat battery.  Then the alarm started going off.  Disconnecting the battery didn't work but it eventually went off and stayed off until I decided to reconnect the battery - that was a mistake; my ears are still ringing but again the alarm went off eventually.

I will get a new battery tomorrow but is there a chance that the alarm will randomly go off during the night and waken all the neighbours?

Also, is there anything I need to know before installing a new battery?

Is the alarm fob not working? Usually deactivates it..

Just make sure you put the battery back in with the correct orientation - saves pulling it out again, and the potential to get the terminals the wrong way round..

Unfortunately the alarm fob is not de-activating it - I presumed this was something to do with the car battery being flat/disconnected and the car not recognising the signals from the alarm fob?  I'm sure the alarm fob has worked in the past but I never set the alarm.

Does the alarm activate when you connect up a new battery?

Take the alarm and siren fuses out before you reconnect the battery The alarm auto arms when it is powered up so every time you connect the battery it will sound unless you stop the power to it just means the useless interior light also doesn't work or take the dash top off and unplug the alarm The sorb has a backup battery which will keep it sounding for a short while
