Few more photos and bit of update......my friend has put in an offer, not sure exactly how much but has been declined. The owner is determined to get £6k ish for this. One or two on here have expressed interest in this car so I will forward the details to them but like I say he's seems adamant that it is worth £6k as it is.

Might get a bit more if he breaks it but I guess that's a bad one Floor could well be badly corroded by now along most of the subframe ? These cars are starting to suffer with the odd corrosion issues anyway and they haven't been used as a boat

The only way this is worth 6 grand is if there's 5 grand in the boot.

The bloke clearly has more money than sense! Why on earth would you let a car rot for 2 years? So much damage could have been prevented if he took immediate action, removed all the bodywork and interior and given everything a bloody good clean and dry! I can't believe he expects to sell it for £6k!? That's an absolute joke! You can get yourself a non cat NA for that money. My dad and I have rebuilt many Vx's now but I've never dealt with water damage, I can see the costs rapidly escalating on this, not to mention its cat B so can never be used on the road again... My dad wants to go and have a look at the weekend but I'm not sure it's worth it. It's worth about £3k in parts I reckon. I will have the CC bits out of it though! ;) Would anyone be interested in parts if we end up breaking it? We'd have to convince him he's being far too "ambitious" with his valuation first!

That's why my mate washed his hands with it, the bloke was a bit funny about it, saying he knows how much these are worth. Think it is intercooler not charge cooled. Sure some parts are salvageable but really can't see how this is worth more than a few grand as a whole or in bits.

Yeah I don't blame your mate. Sounds as if the owner is the sort of guy that will stick to his guns, hold onto it for another 2 years and then realise it's just a big box of mould and pay someone to come and collect it, such a waste!

Maybe we'll have some luck if everyone keeps telling him it's not worth anywhere near 6k!

even though logically i don't want this car and its overpriced. some kind of 'must save the VX!' emotion stirs in me. Anyone else find themselves eyeing up poorly VX's on ebay and on here contemplating doing it?
