Literally just had the worst nights work ever... I recently got offered a new job and I decided to take it. Paperwork come through today so proceeded with doing the whole notice thing... Literally the hardest thing I have ever had to do.. Current employer has done so much for me and i have been with them since I left school. Telling my manager I was leaving was horrible! Couldn't even get the words out and was basically shaking! Just really hope it's the right thing to do..

Good luck on your new job dude thumbsup I know from past experience how hard it is telling someone you've worked with for a long time that your going and I know for the most part you got on well with him. End of the day it's your life and you need to do what's best for you.

I was in exactly the same position 4 years ago with the job I'd had for 15 years since leaving school... was extremely hard but no regrets!

Considered change is good mate, you'll just stagnate otherwise. Onwards and upwards

I have that decision to make soon. Stay in (the RAF) past 22 years or get out and do something else. Soon is in the next four years by the way.

As long as you leave on good terms it's not a closed door mate. I'm sure you had good reason to accept the new role - focus on that.

I fear that there maybe a time where I have to follow suit. Really like the company I work for and the role I have, but stagnation is creeping my way. Add to that a recent change of structure within my team and falling 2nd at interview for my superiors post means that the opportunity for career development has gone. Then, when chatting with one of the interviewers recently, I was advised to be patient as I am "only young and have plenty of time yet." Bitter bitter resentment was felt after both the interview and that chat. The alternative seems to have been reading a management text book too recently. Sounds just like a 21yo me after I had just graduated, be that 10yrs ago. Hope it not to be true, but fear I am going to have a sore head and a dented desk.
