Another fast circuit. Lots of overtaking opportunities. Another Merc win? Another Williams tyre mix up? Hopefully Ferrari can spend some more tokens and get a podium.

This is my "joker" circuit for the fantasy F1 league at work. Current form is looking ok - Williams and the Mercs for teams. Lewis, Grojean, Kvyat as my top drivers, and Max, Carlos & Nasr as my secondary drivers. Fingers crossed this should boost me to the top of the league :) Monza will be a big loss to the calendar though - hopefully it will return next year.

Italian Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg have been referred to the Formula 1 stewards after their tyre pressures were found to be below Pirelli's specifications. FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer's report said the top four cars on the Monza grid - the Mercedes and Ferraris - had their left-hand tyres checked on the grid after the five-minute signal. While the Ferraris were within Pirelli's 19.5psi tyre pressure specification and 110-degree tyre blanket temperature, both Mercedes were outside the marks. Hamilton's tyre was measured at 0.3psi below, Rosberg's at 1.1psi under.

It is however very unlikely any advantage was gained with a 0.3psi difference.

You can still see the disqualification coming though.

There are reports that some teams were already breaking some of those recommendations in Hungary, after Pirelli found that some of the tyres were being heated to much higher temperatures in the tyre blankets than they would recommend. Because Pirelli recommended a minimum starting pressure, it is being speculated that some teams were overheating the tyres so that the static pressure was above Pirellis recommended minimum starting pressure in the pit lane, but would then drop below that recommended pressure once they cooled off on the track. It was noted that, during the race weekend, Charlie Whiting made the unusual step of sending a technical directive to the teams that emphasised that they should stick to the recommended camber and tyre inflation pressures from Pirelli it has been more than a year since he did so, suggesting that Whiting was receiving reports that teams were not sticking to the recommended limits.

Massive Hamilton fan and Mercedes But what's the point in having rules if they can be broken ?? Does anyone have any detail on how they got to this decision ??

Thanks sizeten So the conditions were wrong when the test was carried out If that's the case then Pirelli want fcuking for wrongly reporting the incident F1 is turning into a bit of a joke Can't wait to see how they move on from this As teams can fudge the tire temps in the blankets Which means there will no standard test conditions to take the pressures at a given temp Maybe they should do away with tire blankets that will make things interesting on the out laps and starts
