Right I'm back with my 2nd vx220,I had a standard 2.2 the last time round but always thought it was a bit down on power. So I've bought a very nice red 2.2 sc but don't know who did the work on it? Apparently it has the upgraded cams from Courtenay as well. The reg is RL52WPV. It has been on the rollers showing 262bhp but would like to know if the internals have been upgraded? If not I would probably put standard cams back in. Any help and info would be greatly appreciated Bazza.

It has a decent flat spot/hesitation around the the 2k rev mark, would that be down to the cams?

It gets a lot better with coolant temp. Might be a faulty temp sensor. BUT would love to know who did the full conversion on my car? Cos I'd like to know what injectors are in it, size pulls? That type of stuff. 😀

if you can post a picture of the engine bay (especially the wiring loom and ecu) it might help in your search, because different people modify them in different ways thumbsup

The 2k rpm flat spot might be the courtenay map - mine has always done it.

Cheers vocky will do, as long as the flat spot is normal then that's OK, just worried in case something was a miss somewhere 👍

2k flat spot is common on courtney map. Mine has it.

Your power is safe on standard engine. Dont go messing with anything :)

:yeahthat:  Instead of changing your engine, invest in the OBD tuner software. That will make the pick-up at low revs completely different with possible some extra power up top. thumbsup

Spot on, if you don't mind me asking what injectors and cams are in it? I don't know a great deal about these sc conversions? Baz.

I believe it was on standard cams and z20let injectors when he did the conversion.

The injectors were z20let as Vocky has suggested but not standard cams - the car had an AMD stage 3 tune early on in its life, which included a lightend flywheel, ported head, cams, 200 cell cat(?), ITG carbon enclosed filter and miltek exhaust. When I sold it it had every receipt which list what the cams were(piper?).

I don't recall any flat spot when i had it.

I don't think I would go mad and change anything on that engine without doing the pistons and rods.

Oh I won't be doing any more tweaks to the engine,it has a lot of power! More than happy with that, its just want to keep it reliable, Thanks for getting back to me on what's been done on it!
