I had the spax rsx on my e36 M3. They worked well enough on that.

The spax rsx are a bit more expensive, but I dont really want gaz if they just last a year, ive found spax for about 670, its really the top end of my budget, it was that or a set of wheels, the spax do only lower 25mm, but I have a splitter on the front so may be better that I cant go lower than 25mm I do have gaz adjustable shocks on my mk1 cavalier, they are ok, but they have a rubber outer dust cover, which I can get from gaz, but ive had to change the rear covers once at 3 year mark, bearing in mind in the seven years the shocks have been on the cav, its done about 6-7k , so not great

Not had any problems with my Gaz golds for road use. They are now much stronger but heavier due to the steel rather than alloy construction.

For simply lowering..... Buy new springs and new spring platforms for your current dampers.

Think turboluca said he had a set of low mileage gaz monotube for 700, had a set of them before and they were a bloody good ride, I was impressed 👍

I wouldnt go near Spax, they are ok build quality wise but for handling and adjustment I dont rate them My friend has them on his Elise S2 and they arent great. I have Gaz golds, came on the car, and they are good. Adjustment works and changes the damping properly from click to click. I had them rebuilt when I got the car and they have had no leaks or issues in 5000 road miles and 4 track days (which they shouldnt have as they are basically brand new). They were cheap to service and they turnaround time was great. I used a local garage who took them off, sent them away, stored the car and then refitted. They only downside is i'm constantly waiting for them to leak but I've owned Gaz golds before on a few cars, including drift cars which get a hard life, and they never leaked so fingers crossed with these!

It's not leaking you need to worry about. It's completely breaking.

I thought that the body of the shock is less likey to break now the materials have been changed? Yeah, yeah, I have Golds......if they snap they'll be going in the bin/perhaps sent back for repair and something else will go on. However, they have been fine on my road-only VX.
