Hi Everyone, I´m looking to do a get my car SFRO inspected during the spring. (SFRO is a independet kind of MOT here in sweden that approves newbuilt or rebuilt vehicals) Anyone to get my car approved I need to do 2 of each other  independent major upgrades, means power train is one (engine and gerarbox), chassi is one, brake system is one and

suspension is one.

I also want to put in least  amont of money and hours. since I have 2 kids and spent to many hours the last 5 years renovating the house and fixed my car.

Power train is alread done.

So I have looked into changing the spindles but this isn´t enought I need to make new control arms with new suspension geometry.

Chassi could be one where I have thought about elongating the car with about 10cm and tilt the engine forward.

To get a less nervous car wth more weight over front. But this seems to need a lot of hours.

So I´m quite satisfied with my brakes today but this is also an option here the criteria is, increase disc area with atleast

20% and pad area with 20% or instead of pad area upgrade caliper to a caliper with more pistons.

If I go for brakes the front seems rather easy. I found discs at Reyland.co.uk in size 315*28 since I want to go for 16" front wheels. I´d prefer a 25mm brake disc but I think 28 should be OK. This with a Wilwood Dynalite front caliper.

With these calipers you can vary the size of the pistons.

But rear seems harder, my idea was to fit front caliper in rear and keeping the caliper I have today but this seems like a heavy solution and I don´t know how to space oem calipers out for a bigger disc?

It could also be necessary to change for a new master brake cylinder. I have red that Subaru have someone that fit.

From which Subaru and how much bigger is this master valve, thinking of recalculate front pistons size.

Any ideas?

Br,Per

Anyone using the front caliper in the rear? Are you using std caliper for handbrake or any other? Br, Per

The standard option is to go for the AP Racing 4 pots on the front - they are a direct fit and you'll be able to run bigger disks too.  You can put the OEM fronts on the rear (there is / was a member on here that produced the bracket) and keep the OEM rear caliper just for the handbrake.  I have this setup and you don't need a bigger master cylinder but there is slightly more pedal travel (but not much).

You can get rid of the OEM rear caliper and go for a HiSpec rear brake caliper.  This is much smaller and lighter but I think you'll need to make up a bracket for it to fit  thumbsup

I think the problem with this is that it IS bolt on.

You have to make some kind of big alternation to make it OK for SFRO. If it is simple it will not work.

No it´s not a problem it is bolt on as long it is a significant upgrade from std, but it´s not since the discs are 3mm wider the std 25.

The discs I have found are 315*28.

Would the standard discs from a 9-5 Aero do the trick? They are 308 but don't know the thickness. They are a direct fit, all you need to do is space out the caliper slightly.

i tried one on my car and is was an easy fit and the caliper also fitted into my 16" TD. If you want other dimensions you could look for other discs for the 9-5, remember we live in Saab country

Brake disc area must increase by 20% (=315.5mm) or more, but 315mm could be ok= 19.6%. Id like to have 16" wheels at the front over 315mm brakes. Br, Per

About the Subaru master brake cylinder. Which model and years should it be taken from? Anyone knows how much bigger it is then the VX std one? Will it change the brake balance? Any guide how to fit it? Br, Per

All 4 pot cars have the same dia.

Early cars ie Version 1/2 with sliding calipiers have 25mm dia.
