Hi, newbie vx owner here. Anyone any advice re which is the best battery for my NA vx220 with ITBs. The one in it has died v quickly (3 months) and looks a bit cheap. How long can I expect a decent battery to last

Cheers

Hi saddle, Do yourself a favour and get one with a five year warranty........battery change is not something you want to be doing often and the £20 or so extra will seem like very good value for money once you've had your hands chewed up doing the change first time. Got a Bosch one from halfords last year, with a trade card they work out at a reasonable cost. Also, make sure the new battery has a carrying handle to make it easier when it does eventually die and needs replacing. Cheers

Put he halfords receipt in a sandwich bag and sellotape it to the side of the battery. That way if you need to claim under 5yr warranty, you can thumbsup Also, find a local vx member with a halfords trade card. Job done.

Cheers, good chance I'll need that warranty. A lot of water gets in and around it so the connections are rather corroded. Should I get a cover to minimise water intrusion?

The Halfords you got to may use Yuasa now instead of bosch. Still 5 year Warrenty and as good. As above find a trade card or order online from a place like this http://www.justcarba...63-battery.html Not sure on their postage costs though.

It's worth taking a photo or scanning the receipt as well, the ink fades on those receipts after a while especially if it gets warm or is left in sunlight.

look out for one with a CCA of 400+ not the cheapo CCA 300. These are usually the longer warranty ones. This is more important if you don't use every day, and leave it with the alarm active in the cold and damp. I have had 2 of the lower "cold cranking amps" ones in the last 2 years, I've gone for a 450 now so hopefully last a bit longer. Various suppliers, surprisingly including Vauxhall, are good. but if you go to VXL just get a quote of 063 battery, if you ask for a VX220 battery you sometimes pay a premium

Bosch S4 (4 year warranty) from carparts4less (sister company to euro car parts). CCA of 420. http://www.carparts4...aa0472c1 Had one in for six years now and still going strong. £41.94 delivered and discount code BOX8 will get you another 8% off making it £38.58. Job done.

I'm in south Manchester if you need a hand fitting or a halfords trade card.
