So due to my inexcusable stupidity I’ve managed to starve my engine of oil, which has led to me slipping a big end bearing and destroying the crank. oh joy.

So I’m looking for a new engine to put in. I wanted to double check which z22se engines will fit, as far as I am aware only the omega and frontera engines won’t fit so I can buy an engine from a astra, vectraB, early vectraC or a zafira and it should fit. Is this correct?

Also when I get it I plan on doing some bits before it goes in. I’d like to put a lightened flywheel on, new timing chain, new clutch and balance shaft delete. Is there anything else worth doing before I put the engine in?

Any z22se will fit Speak to Matt Bentley about a lightened flywheel Get a fast road clutch and slave from courtenays Only use GM chains Balance delete Depending on age of the engine, probably worth changing the water pump as 9/10 they are Leaking oil Belt tensioner again depending on age Belt obviously Maybe a 4.17 gearbox if you want/find one Oh and a supercharger? I have kits in stock :D

And don't throw your old engine away until the new one is in and working. There are a couple of bits you need to transfer over such as the oil diverter/restrictor/springy thing in the oil filter housing.

Ok thanks guys I’ll get a new water pump, belt tensioner and belt. I’m just reading up on the balancer shaft delete mods which looks like I won’t have to buy a kit for it, I’ll just knock the bearings in a bit and cut down the shafts. I'll defiantly go for a genuine GM chain kit as well.

Ye sorry, looks like it was burning oil quite bad. You probably didn't notice with the little milage you did but I've clocked up about 9k so far but have destroyed the crank. I'm just trying to sort out a new engine. Just out of interest where did you get the timing chain done? There was a random bolt floating about in the head but there were non missing. So I can only guess it was left in there when the chain was done.

sh*t sorry to hear it! Murray Lotus did the timing chain and I'd be very surprised if they would leave a bolt floating about, they are very highly respected. They also did the water pump and belt tensioner at the same time. Car felt better than it ever had after that. I gave you the invoice for all that work so you'll have it documented. Chains were proper OEM bought through the z22se forum. Hope you get it sorted swiftly!

p.s. I got my Evora at long last! :D
