Hello I would be very grateful about replacing my front Bonnet handle and cable as mine has just broken (heavy handed). is it a Vauxhall part do Astra, vectra or corsa fit.some look very similar, my car is a 2001 NA' the bonnet is shut tight at present I just have the cable with the little ball snapped off.All information would be greatly received can I fix it myself?

Many Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary, It's been a while since I crawled under the dash, but would doubt if it's a standard vauxhall part. If I remember the bracket is just a little bit of bent aluminum. Looking inside the bonnet, mine seems to be more like a cycle brake cable so you may be able to get something from a cycle shop if you just need the cable.I suppose the cable itself could be Vxl As for opening the bonnet, can you get a pair of pliers on the inner cable, and pull it to open it. Getting an accomplice to press gently down on the bonnet whilst you are doing it, may relieve the pressure on the spring. HTH Tony

Got fed up with the handle of mine popping out of the bracket whenever you looked at it and replaced it with an off the shelf bonnet release cable with a T handle on it from Car Builder solutions. Works much better and you pull it towards you like any other car now.

Yup, similar type of thing to that though somewhat less intrusive.

Do you have to run a new cable to do this mod, or is the original cable long enough?

That was the Vauxhall 'fix' for when they broke my handle off.  Heel, toe, bonnet?  Cowboys.

Looks like it could catch your leg! Just wondered if you could keep the original cable.

Yeah, it was a bit dodgy.  I ended up buying an alloy bracket and new cable from Douglas Valley as I wasn't happy with that.
