Hello all! I'm looking into purchasing a VX220, but the problem is that I am quite tall and I'm not sure that I'll fit. I've found discussions on tall drivers here http://www.vx220.org...9-tall-drivers/  and here http://www.vx220.org...-am-i-too-tall/ and I'm right on the limit that is discussed. I'm 6'4" and quite slim.

I was hoping that one of you based around the Midlands (I'm from Lichfield and work right next to Curborough Sprint Course) might we willing to let me have a sit in the driver's seat to assess whether or not I actually fit in exchange for a few beers as was suggested in the 'Am I Too Tall' thread.

Please let me know if you would be willing to assist, or if you've got any other feedback in addition to what is stated in the exisiting threads.

Thanks,

Austin

Hi and welcome

Im 6'3" and fit fine, to help matters Ive removed the drivers head rest cover so the seat will go back that little bit more.

I've found trying to lower the seat will raise your knees and then it becomes a pain knocking the steering column.

If you track you will also find your helmet will stick up a little bit but tracking without a roof is more fun

My hardtop has not been on the car for over 4 years now lol

I am 6 4 and fat as fcuk and it's perfectly comfortable.

There's a picture of me and Jon (also a hefty fella) sharing an intimate pax ride at an Essex meet in the summer of 2010/11(?)  somewhere on here.

You'll fit in it fine.....   thumbsup  :)

My lad is 6'5" and he can get in and out without any trouble. That said he's only 17 so he hasn't driven it .........yet!

Austin, I'm on the Lichfield side of Sutton Coldfield and the car may be putting in an appearance on the Darwin Park estate this Friday, you're welcome to try it anytime.

I'm 6'4", I have raised the seat slightly at the front which made it more comfortable. When you are in there is plenty of room!

I'm 6' 4" and slim build and have no issues getting in and out. The guy I bought my vx off was 6' 5" and a bigger frame than me, and he didn't have any problems either. Just do the deed and get one, you won't regret it     thumbsup

May depend in where your lenght is in.

If in the legs, there are a few fixes, as described by others. If in the body, you may end up looking at the windshield surround.

Better get in one soon to verify.

Good Evening Austin.

My take on the 'tall' thing, is that it is not so much how tall one is but more  how supple and agile one is. That agility, when coupled with learning a certain knack of bending and twisting in a certain way, in a certain order, will see you getting in and out just fine. The driving position is again a knack of bending and resting ones legs in certain ways (everybody seems to find a way that suits them best) to facilitate a comfortable experience.

You're certainly doing the right thing in asking to get in one to try but do please take on-board with you the fact that it may take a while before you find the best way to do it that suits you. I've had mine a while now and automatically go in to 'auto-pilot' mode and slip in and out effortlessly but it takes time and effort to get to that stage (or at least it did for me, obviously i can't speak for everyone).

Good luck wished for your 'test' and, all going well, i hope that you're in your own drivers seat soon.

..icey

Thanks for the information and kind welcome everyone! It is all very much appreciated.

Thanks for this! I actually live on the Darwin Park Estate, so this would be ideal. When do you think you'd be around? If this doesn't work I can get to Sutton easily as well.

Exactly that. Also consider if you are tracking the car, the helmet will further cut into your headroom.

I am touching the roof spars sans helmet and I am only 6'1

My mate who's 6'7" loves driving on track but thought he'd never get in anything lotus based. I pulled up in my VX and the look on his face when he got in the driver's seat :) We have since shared the driving to and around Spa and other tracks and he has now bought an Exige S1. He's lowered the seat and raised the rack to make the driving position better.
