Opportunity to purchase a rare 2.4L Supercharged VX220 (only one in the world as far as I know).

Reluctant reason for sale is that I’ve two supercharged VX220’s currently, and I’m either consolidating to one and a better daily driver, or going for something completely different (nope, never mentioned Evora..). This one is also too good IMO to sit outside not being driven much, so despite the money and effort put into it over the last few months, I’ll offer it up for sale.

The original 2.2 engine spun a bottom end bearing in July, so I decided to replace the complete long engine with a combination of a very rare, low mileage 2.4L bottom end and an improved, rebuilt Saab B207 cylinder head, all put together by Ecotec engine guru Vocky. The engine also had a number of tweaks to improve efficiency such as ported exhaust ports and balancer shaft removal.

The car has never been tested for power / torque, but this set-up should conservatively deliver 280bhp+ and 250lb/ft, possibly a good bit more, and it’s certainly got more to give with some additional fettling. The OBD-Tuner upgrade allows calibration of engine parameters, and changes to things such as throttle response, and the facility for an integrated wideband sensor.

The car has virtually all the aspects addressed and really needs nothing done on the service side in the near future given my own and previous owner’s effort over the last year.

The body condition is very good. Not perfect, with the odd stone chip, but it’s clearly spend a lot of its life garaged (which I cannot currently offer it, unfortunately!) and no signs of paint fade sometimes experienced by red cars that have lived outside for a lot of their life. The car was previously owned by other VX220.org members.

Someone needs to buy this and stick a harrop on to prove 450 can be done.

Much of the engine work already there for this, but you'd really need some stronger rods, hotter cams, bigger 3" exhaust, and a larger fuel pump (OEM currently).
