Looking for a good example.

£20k in cash waiting for a good car.

Private buyer (not a dealer!)

PM me if you have a VXR220 and you'd like to sell now we're into winter and have a pile of money for xmas ;-)

Guys - I'm not a troll - is it so hard for some of you to believe that the cars you all covet would be wanted by someone who can't find what he wants in the classifieds?!

FYI - I'm simply a car nut and I want to find a good example of the more limited edition VXR220 model.

If you need any reassurance I'm genuine, have a look at this video I made driving my old Challenge Stradale!

Hi darkknight,

Don't take it personally.

We get a lot of people coming on .org looking for VXRs with an inflexible wishlist for what is a rare item and basically wasting everybodys time with completely unrealistic expectations of what car they can acquire. Hence any new 'looking for a VXR' thread is met with immediate suspicion!

Dont get me wrong, I wouldnt be posting on here if there was a good one on your For Sale section or Pistonheads currently at the right money...

Now that we've cleared up that I'm genuine... the last low mileage VXR220 (car was in Wales IIRC) stuck around for a while, so I suppose it is rather rarer to find someone whos good to go and will pay what a cars worth - so if you do have a VXR220 and would like to sell now we're into winter, please PM me with details and I can reply with my phone number etc if there is still any concern over me being a "newbie" on the forum.

any particular reason why it has to be a VXR?  would a mint turbo not suffice?

You're a brave man.

I can understand this.  If I found a VXR at the right price I'd prefer it to my current one.  It just has that odd specialness about it.  It might not be as good or as fast etc but there's just something about it.

At least he won't baulk too much at the price of parts (eg headlamps)

OP- why low miles?  This is often a request from noobs looking for a car.  From my experience I've seen low milers which are used and abused alongside higher milers which have been cherished and maintained with no limit to costs.  Personally I would be more interested in history than miles on the clock.  Also check that it is in good order, a service history can be bought!

So special Vauxhall only bothered to register two of them as VXR220's on the V5C.

..if you really are what you say you are......then I will always offer my true apologies......  however...  just what "is the right money" ?????

....all I can say is you are in for a lonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg wait......as you will gather these are rarer than a Golden Unicorn...as the numbers slowly decline......any car released onto the open market will cause a "Dutch Auction"......

Just buy an NA or  Turbo and change the badge.......no one will notice......and you'll still get the kids and the Japenese point at it......

As I would have thought everyone interested in these cars would agree, its not about people pointing and noticing what model you have, whether its a VX220, VX220 Turbo or VXR220, but which model you want and gives you pleasure - isnt that what its about?! I want a VXR220 because I love limited editions and I like the extra touches alcantara etc and have no inclanation to add these touches to a car that didnt come with them.

In reply to other post, doesnt need to be low miles - just very well looked after. Already received 1 PM so we'll see what happens.

Just to correct you Techieboy

When they were delivered, Vauxhall listed them as a VX220 turbo and that's what was on the V5 when it turned up.

Myself and one other returned the log book to DVLC with supporting documentation and got the V5 changed to list the car as VXR220 turbo hence you only see 2 as official VXR220's

As I remember the cars had to be registered before they left the Vauxhall factory to travel to the Lotus assembly line to have the cars completed, I have all the documentation of my car as it went through Lotus.

As to whether DVLC would change the log book, without all the bills of sale now to read VXR220 Turbo is another question.

I had a couple of PMs and while they were lovely cars they each needed a little work doing, and I'm looking for something that's ready to go without any odd jobs etc.

So...I'm still looking for a car with cash waiting, Genuine buyer (we do exist!) simply looking for a good car.

If you fancy parting with your VXR for a good price, please send me a PM.
