As above, anyone used them? I think they used to be quite big in the VX scene the early days and competed with Thorney. Anyone have any experience with them, they're local to me and i'm interested in having some mapping done.

Ask Slindborg's opinion on them. I think the general consensus will be to avoid like the plague especially when it comes to mapping.

But then Slindy is a massive fan of all chuna's. Though I seem to recall a special at Regal.

there are no vx220 specialist tuning companies, the cars are just too old and not worth the bother any more - it's easier to work on new cars where the bolts come undone, rather than spend a day removing a front clam.

 

However Courtenay is the preferred company to use for vx220 mapping and Back on Track for any mechanical work. Matt Bentley Racing also offer track focused services. I might have missed a couple out, but I am sure someone will add them.

Thanks for the replies, had s feeling there was some bad feeling towards them but then all companies have the odd bad review. I would ideally like courtenay to do the mapping but they're a very long way from me. I've used back on track and Plans motorsport for suspension / geo etc. But just want someone local that has experience with turbo engines and mapping really. I have a slight boost issue that needs resolving as well as a flat spot In the map.

Been writing bespoke vx specific engine software here for over two years , its too niche to go full time , but I will always look at any map and fix problems. Charging for the time involved is the issue and the ongoing support and travel distance costs.

 I know there are a few on here that really know their stuff, but if you don't get any offers of help you could try contacting Sean at SM Tuning for a quote if you don't want to travel far. He cut his teeth on the Z20LET and now runs a successful tuning business. He will come to you and doesn't charge extortionate prices. He has a good track record with the VX and many other cars.

 

I'm not affiliated or a mate anything, just seen/been in a few examples of his work and been quite impressed.

My VX has a Regal map, done well before my ownership (i've owned mine for 5 years), got the receipt somewhere.

 

Works wonders on my VX except I'm pretty sure that it drinks fuel when compared to other VX's but then again that could be my right foot.  Can't offer any help or advice other than that sorry.

The Regal NA map is good I've had several cars with that mapping and they have all been very good. 

 

Anyone with an ODB cable should be able to map a VXT but just head to your closest reputable firm.

I had a regal map on my na around 2002^03. Map was great. It also raised the limiter. The car came out to around 158 with vse on amd rolling road. So was happy with the map. But customer service was poor. Just the general attitude nothing specific. Also had to wait 2 hrs while the car was taken out to bed in the map. A bit excessive imho. I now use Liam at MMG. He does mapping and people who have had his maps from what I know are happy with them. Drop him a line if you want to know more. Mani

If it's a standard car look for your local Powerflow tuning centre. They are simple maps but safe and take away the flat spot.

I've contacted Regal but not heard anything back yet. My car isn't standard it has an old CMS stage 2 map.

Thought they had enough of being sh*t at vaux halls and moved onto vws...... Anyway, to quote a chap I knew, "I'd sooner shove a fistful of angry wasps up my arse than let them change spark plugs let alone map it"

Andy do you want a second opinion, I can have a look at the map and show you the differences between them all. It's likely you may just have some tired engine parts.
