What is different in Z22SE which is a typical NA engine and a Z22YH ? Thanks!

Mostly the same but YH is direct injection, slightly higher CR, different ignition system and different crank timing pattern. I think.

ok so it will not work with Z22SE ECU ? Has the same bolt pattern on the intake manifold and exhaust manifold ?

No. Makes for a much better base to work from with an aftermarket ECU though.

the z22yh cylinder head would be best thrown away as it would never work in a vx220 thumbsup

pity when I already have OBD Tuner. Is looking to have two engines one moderately tuned and one more powerful tuned , but used Z22SE engines is rare in Norway. But has found a YH at a reasonable price , but if the are too many differences it is better to find a SE engine.

It's also not a particularly good DI engine, so no point trying to convert to that.

obdtuner only works with the crank pattern from the Z22SE. (which is pretty uncommon unfortunately) So whatever other engine you take, you need the Z22SE pattern for the signal.

B207 conversions have swapped the (removable) internal crank sensor ring for a ring with the Z22SE pattern, or people have mounted an external crank sensor ring with the Z22SE pattern.

If you have a real stand alone ecu, you have more options towards other crank sensor patterns.

Thanks for the info. I have considered B207 conversion , but have decided not to go that route. I will have an SE engine and tune it to what I want and use OBD tuner , and still be able to switch back to the original engine that is moderate tuned .

looking at the motronic documentation and you can set the number of teeth and gap teeth , for a different pattern , although 60-2 is typical

plus the z22yh camshaft sensor
