Hi guys, basically I have a friend of a friend that is starting up a mobile business in remapping cars, I was not interested at all in modifying my vxt but with getting asked to share his page I had to ask..... For £150 he says I will get an extra 40bhp and 100nm obviously for that gain and for that amount of money is very tempting! I just wondered if anyone else has had that kind of gain from just a remap? As I've looked at Courtenay's and that's £540 for 25bhp and no mention of torque, does it sound a bit to good to be true or is it actually possible? Cheers guys! ^_^ Attached File  uploadfromtaptalk1453044863335.jpeg   104.38KB   25 downloads

I don't know haha. Would think not a lot as you could put a standard map back on it anyway but just wondered with the price difference and the difference in gain could mean they cut corners, or not so good maps, or damaging to the car, or just the fact that it's a big company that can charge more? Just don't want to ruin the car haha. Like I said the car is enough for me but for £150 could have my arm twisted

Think the main difference is your mates map is a generic map and Courtney's will be more a custom map. A lot of mappers tell pork pies about gains and rolling road print outs aren't worth the paper there wrote on.

Ahh ok that makes a bit more sense, so do courtneys set your car up rather than just uploading a program? Guessing that's why the extra dollar to get them to do it.

Yeah that's it mate much more labour intensive, whereas the generic map take a few minutes.

Aha nice one cheers mate, guessing the generic one will still make a difference though, Long as it doesn't have any negative impacts on the car then happy days! :D

The generic map should still see good gains, most remaps are generic.

spend the money on a turbo downpipe replacement section of exhaust to remove the precat , and get yourself an mpps cable and I will email you the stage 2 map since Boston is too far for me to travel and do a custom job, its pretty easy to upload new maps yourself.

@ the OP, don't do it.

If you expect that much BHP from a remap on this engine, it can only come from excessive boost and excessive timing advance, both of which can/will hurt/break your engine if their numbers are to be believed (which is highly unlikely if they offer a genuine waranttee).
