Hi all

I have a hole and cracking to the rear clam left rear bumper area. talking to friends etc i am getting conflicting information and advice some say just fill with doggy and some say must be done with chopped mat and resin so very confusing advice. As you guys will have done this before I'm open to any advice you could give me.

My gut tells me to take it to a specialist fiberglass bodyshop. I,m willing to have a go myself but need to know what I'm doing.

Worked with fibreglass for a few year now, and id say the dent on the left could have a small patch behind it, and some filler, and the crack on the right could probably be done in a similar fashion, but with a larger patch, and some filler to blend it in prior to painting.

So Im guessing p40 filler ?? then normal car body filler to get it perfect ??

Sorry, I meant a patch of chop strand matt, with some resin (and catalyst) mixed in, id add 2 plies of 600g/heavy (if it were me) Then some body filler on the outside to smooth it in. This will stop any filler from cracking, as the patch will add regidity, you will want around 15-20mm around any damage on the inside, and id grind back any loose fibres on the inside and outside, as well as the area where the patch will be going. Obviously you will need to get a local area spray painted after.
