NA 2.2

I've experienced this in other cars so I don't think there is anything wrong but I was wondering if other people have notice how hard it is to be smooth in first gear and if there is a solution to improve the gas delivery.

When off the gas in 1st gear with clutch up driving at tick over speed it doesn't matter how gradually I press the gas the car jerks, it's like the gas pedal is not infinitely variable, it's either on a little or not on at all. The same jerk happens when coming off the gas.

So I have to press the clutch down every time I press or release the gas at low speeds to get rid of the jerk.. P***es me off in stop start traffic. Getting tempted by a 2zz elise as I know this engine is smoother.

dont have an issue on mine

are you sure you dont have a carbon build up on the pedal sensor tracks ?

try a spray of switch cleaner on tracks inside the unit

or the throttle position sensor

i would eliminate these as a problem first

That's very interesting, have you used a 16bit fuel table? Have you experienced the Jerky throttle response at very low engine speeds in the NA?

The accelerator pedal is actually a resistor switch ( no cable) with electrical tracks these can get dirty or worn stand on your head unplug it and take it out and clean the tracks inside if they are worn away this might explain the on or off operation The throttle position sensor is a small motor which should open and close the throttle body flap in relation to the accelerator position again may be faulty or could just need the contacts cleaning Never had an issue with my Vx but had a mondeo that would sometimes rev it's nuts off then almost cut out then rev again with no throttle input so worth a look Someone else might say I am talking Bolox but that's where I Would go first 😀

I've got OBD Tuner, and the throttle response is smoother, however as I made the change when I supercharged it, it's not a direct comparison.

My view is this; the Z22SE has a poor factory map, this is designed for cars weighing 1.2 tonnes and up (Astra, Vectra, Zafira). This engine, with an untouched map, was then dropped into a car weighing 800 kg. Any damping effect from the greater vehicle mass is reduced, and poor low speed mapping becomes evident.

This was my suspicion because I've felt other cars drive like this but slightly less noticeable.
