There's been discussions in the past that the Matiz ABS unit is the same as the 4 channel elise.

I always said I'd get one if it came up cheap, and one has just come up cheap on ebay http://www.ebay.co.u...-/281932184982?

I don't have a working VX to test it at the mo, so it's pointless me buying it. Maybe someone else fancies giving it a try.

There's not really any info floating around. Some of the .org guys have previously had a hunch that it was the same unit, but that's about it.

I've contacted Kelsey Hayes a few times to try to find out more, but they never respond to my emails.

All the people who've paid £300 odd for 4chan abs will be cringing if this is true!

Looking at another listing on ebay one of the part numbers for the Daewoo unit is S108196010, the Vx220 2 channel number is S108196009 and the Lotus 4 channel is S108196012.

I would have thought even if the physical unit was the same, would the Daewoo unit not need flashing/re-coding to get it to work?

my understanding is if the unit is used then it will not need recoding, only new ones do. We will see , happy to try it out for everyone.

It'll probably physically work but God knows what the calibration will be like (at the very least it'll be set for matching tyre sizes all round) and not sure I'd want to test it in an emergency situation. Me thinks hiring Bruntingthorpe for an hour would be the safest option when it comes to testing it properly.

You'll need the right software/calibration thats for sure, you'dve have to be an utter mental fuckwit to simply chuck it on and go......

and is it a case of flashing the right software to it?

Probably. If you're Kelsey Hayes, have a chip programmer and the software.

Standard Matiz wheel sizes are 13" so I would have thought it would get confused running a 16/17" combo more than the standard Vx220 unit!

Scary to think that a 50 mph capable Matiz has 4-channel ABS (if it actually does) and the VX got lumbered with 2-channel.

i'm running the stock turbo wheels, not 16/17 , although i agree vastly different to 13" :) , it is probably a waste of £25 but lets find out for sure.

Its all about the differnce ratios etc...

Although the speedo will likely be wrong

Matt, I'd imagine the 2chan ABS was on cheap as it was run out stock. With the 4channel one being new and expensive unless you purchased eleventy billion of them

i think you hit the nail on the head there, the speedo will read wrong. Does the abs unit determine the speed output or does it go through unaltered and get read by the stack?

Pah. It probably has a few hundred less lines of code in it, so it was the lightweight option. thumbsup

Wonder whether it's worth speaking to BBAreman or some similar remanufacturing place to see whether they know of any physical specification differences and could upgrade the standard or this Matiz thing to VXR/Lotus spec.

I've sometimes wondered if you could find the microcontroller brand/model etc that a cheeky bit of memory read and then write could be carried out....
