Does the fitting bar go between the trailing edge of the diffuser and the clam? Iv got a TAT, and have seen several people mention this bar, but no idea what it is, or where it goes

its basically a aluminium bar that the spire nuts attach to then the clam is sandwiched between the two! this means you can use the existing holes in the clam! no modification required....

So it spreads the load to stop it cracking the clam?

Yes it does that too! I have found that some diffusers are supplied with angle bar for strength but I think that because of the curvature of the clam it point loads the ends and doesn't spread the load which is why I supply flat bar 👍

I have an early TAT and found the diffuser quite heavy on the lip of the rear clam.  The bar transferred the flex from the weight of the diffuser and localised it at either end of the bar.  So I made up two supports out of anodised aluminium strip from Haulfrauds.  These attach towards the end of the fixing bar and (twist 90 degrees) up to the inner side of the wheel arch.  Fixed with stainless steel bolts this makes a huge difference to the rigidity of the clam lip and it's a quite simple job which doesn't take long to do.  I can post a pic. if anyone wants.
