Hello All

I’ve posted about this issue before, however taken advice from you guys and had someone hook up a diagnostics reader, fault code P1106.

P1106 (01)                                 Boost Presure signal out of range                   Not D

When the cars experiencing this error, I  lose 20-30%  power, still boosting however cars not all there and very slow at getting to  4000 revs when pushing the car hard in any gear , no engine management lights present, once I experience the loss of power usually cures itself after a few weeks, I’ve had a flat battery a few times and  this has cured/erased the issue (I suspect this resets the error on the ecu)

Car Garage cleared the error this morning after the reading, experienced the issue for the 1st 2 miles then magically cured itself and boosting fine, driven into work with a smile on my face boosting hard no issues, even manged to pissing a off a Evo that couldnt keep up  :jump:

So its intermittent, has a habit of curing itself, and can clear if I  run the battery flat or disconnect the battery, if I drive the car hard before it reaches 82 degrees ive noticed this is when its most likely to throw itself into this error.

Is it a electrical, or mechanical issue, im so lost asking mr Google has had me worried, people out there changing everything from the turbo to sensors and still not getting to the bottom of the fault.

Any ideas guys, your help is most appreciated  Imnotworthy

Thankyou!

Sounds like the AMM to me, I had similar problems recently and fixed it with that. Try disconnecting it and going for a short run to see if there's any change or improvement. If there is, it'll be that and you'll need a new one (If you do, let me know because I have a brand new Bosch one kicking about)

Wastegate actuator sticking? I reckon it's catching on the v band on the exhaust internally mine did similar. Pump the actuator up with a compressor and see if the movements are smooth. I've realigned my down pipe hopefully this will cure my issue. Mine only did it when 'trackday' hot... a simple tap made mine ping back closed at the track.

Could try cleaning the map sensor, worth a try and it's free :)

Intermittent boost issues can be difficult to pin down. Do you have a boost gauge fitted?

I have this exact problem, but has gone since using the car more frequently. Has lead me to believe it's a sticky actuator/wastegate.

Also had a similar issue previously that apparently disappeared with a problem code wipe but that just turned out to be coincidence. Actual cause of that was a split vacuum hose going in to the vacuum box.

had the simular issue a few years back, turned out to be a failing boost solenoid valve, replaced it and all was well

This one..... Also , maybe upper heatshield touches the rod actuator (this was my problem with the same p1106 code)

Mine very rarely does the same, especially when hot on a warm summers evening. Think I'll have a look, cheers
