The gap will depend on the dynamic compression in your cylinders, the more compression the smaller the gap required in general. This is because when the charge in the cylider is compressed it is harder for the spark to jump the gap. Most mid boosted cars use around 0.6 to 0.8 mm gap.
If you are getting hesitation/misfiring when booting it then try reducing the gap down a bit. Use feeler gauges to measure.

Drive the car hard, only reduce the gap if it's not firing correctly when under heavy load.
