Astra VXR Forge Engine – I-Beam, Valve Springs, parts and Labour
Posted Image

As some people know the astra VXR (Z20LEH) has Mahle forged pistons as standard, the biggest factor which prevents the Z20LEH engine making big power is the Rods. These are rated to around 320BHP, anything over this we would highly advise fitting stronger Forged Steel Rods. Once these are fitted along with some uprated valve springs the Z20LEH engine is capable of over 500BHP.

This is a common upgrade and to make things simple this kit is for Ashford Performance Ltd to supply and install all the neccesary parts to install the I Beam rods and uprated valve springs.

Kit contains:

4x Forged I-Beam Rods

4x Rod Bearings

16x Piper upgrated single valve springs

4x Piston Ring Sets

1x Full top end gasket set

1x Full bottom end gasket set

1x Cambelt kit

5 Liters Running in oil and filter

5 Liters Performance oil and filter

1x Water Coolant mix

Installation of all of the above parts including re-seating valves, re-hone bores and gaping the new piston rings

Price: £1,550.00

Shipping:£0.00

Dead handy. If you've got an LEH in your car. Not sure about gaping piston rings though. Seems like a recipe for disaster.

All that lot would be fine in a Z20LET. I agree about the gapping, those rings that Mahle use will be correctly gapped for an 86mm. After a rehone on an existing (used) bore the rings would need to be bigger (not smaller from gapping) !

Price list includes new rings, so I assume they are overbore rings and gapping would be required.

Nah, it was the "gaping" rather than the gapping that worried me. :D

I saw a film where that happened once. Put me off my dinner.
