Hi All,

I'm about to take the plunge on supercharging my VX!

I currently have a multi-car insurance policy with Admiral (the VX + my more regular daily driver).

My prediction is that Admiral with either not want to insure it, or it will increase by a ridiculous amount!

Those of you who have SC'd VX's, what do you do??

Thanks,

Jonny

Try the usual specialist insurers, search should reveal plenty of threads with a list of names and contacts.

I'm with competition car ins , I have a tuned turbo but they just quote on HP , you don't have to worry about listing mods etc and I'm paying about £400 in the south east inc track days

I used Adrian Flux when I went SC and the quote was cheaper than my multi-car insurance with LV. Mentioned all the little tweaks as well (wheels, suspenders, A/R bar etc). In my previous experience with them usually good for the 1st year and then it goes up, but we will see. I do have age on my side - well I think I do, unlike with my skiing insurance which has risen exponentially.

Henderson Taylor.  Haven't found cheaper for my SC VX yet.  Although you do have to declare mods and provide a valuation which is a bit of a ballache.

I was on an Admiral multi-car policy but they wouldn't insure my SC due to the power increase from standard, I'm running 250BHP.Used CCI for a while until they put up the premium, I'm now with Classicline.

I'm insured with Footman James on a multicar classic policy. I even have my 5 Ton digger, trailers, lawnmowers & SC VX on the same policy with track day cover.

Don't bother with the likes of Compare the Market. I got a quote for £4000+ from a company called Ignition Insurance for that, when the guy called me as is the usual practice with Compare the Market I did wind him up a bit and said to him were you hoping to charge me that so as to pay for your Christmas booze up.

In the end Competition Car Insurance quoted me less than £300 fully comp plus 5 trackdays for a supercharged VX.

Hey guys, just tried a few of the above... CCI came back with 698. To those of you who mentioned you are paying less, are you older than me? (29) Just wondering what it was that made my quote a bit more expensive...

Location.

Quote was £400 for Wantage, Oxfordshire, £600 for Milton Keynes. Same car, catch was that it was waiting for a new engine in MK and they wanted to use that as the location.

I am actually based in Oxfordshire, just haven't updated my location on the forum yet! So It should definately be cheaper...

Just got a quote from Henderson taylor for £570 and with less mods. Maybe I need to get my negotiating hat on!

To Chris P Duck - Is your quote fully comp? Also how many no claims and is it garaged or driveway etc? Seeing as our ages are similar, it's good to know how you've got yours at that price
