For what it's worth, here are the initial results of my annual search for the best policy / price.  All based upon the following:

Age 51

Sole driver

Civil Servant

Clean licence - held for 33 years

1 non-fault claim in the last 5 years which was fully recovered from third party

VX Turbo

5,000 limited miles

Garaged at home

Social Domestic and Pleasure use only

10 years NCB - protected

Mods declared (Speedline Corse wheels, uprated 4-channel ABS, Milltek back box)

£250 total excess

No trackday cover required

Agreed value (if available)

CCI - £500 (includes trackday cover and 6,000 miles)

1Answer - £371 (includes trackday cover and 6,000 miles).  But NCB not retained or accumulated.

Chris Knott - £338 (includes agreed value, or £300 without agreed value)

Adrian Flux - £321 (includes breakdown cover and personal accident cover, or £250 without breakdown or personal accident)

Henderson Taylor - £311 (includes trackday cover and 6,000 miles)

ClassicLine - £251 (includes full European Breakdown cover and agreed value)

I'm already with ClassicLine and so far it looks like I'll be staying with them.  Been through price comprison sites too but once you add on breakdown and legal protection they don't come close to ClassicLine.

I've got another 3 weeks before I have to renew so going to continue to hunt and if I find anything better / cheaper I'll update the thread.

Any other suggestions of companies / brokers to approach appreciated.   thumbsup

Your details are similar to my own. Only issue I have is an outstanding claim of £28 against a woman who drove into the back of my company car a few years back and the insurance company aren't exactly pulling out all the stops to chase it up. Because it's classed as an open claim it adds between £110-£250 to the premium so I have to insure in my wife's name!

Nope. Asked if I could pay it and I can't for some reason. Was only a cracked number plate but she got herself in a state and wanted it put through insurance. Barstewards

I'm 57 similar situation however I have a standard NA, my renewal is just in at £188.41 with..........wait for it........ Age UK.  I took it out last year and, through Quidco, received £40 cashback.  The actual company is Ageas Insurance.  Something that concerned me when I did the comparison sites was the value of my car at £5,250 which to me it a bit on the low side.

Just tried Age UK but don't think they like us oldies to have mods.  Wouldn't provide an online quote.

Just insured the daily drive a month or so ago with ClassicLine as well but will look at a multicar policy next year with Admiral Chris.   thumbsup

Cheers Stuwy.  Seen so many threads on insurance but most are next to worthless without some context which I hope mine provides.  thumbsup

They are relatively useless as I'll give it a week before someone asks who to insure their VX with  Tried REIS Ken? Are you still on the standard brakes/pads? Brembo-tastic!

Have you tried Footman James?

They were very cheap on my Caterham, obviously not like for like but I was paying around £350 on the VX now down to £159 on the Caterham,

Hi,

Mines come out at £108 this year..  With Saga through confused.com

Me and Mrs T, both over 60.  5,000 miles, no mods, no track days, not garaged. £100 total excess. declared storm damage and a windscreen to the Subaru 3 years ago. with 9+ years ncd

Think I'm in the sweetspot between a boy racer and a doddery pensioner

Just tried our good friend Tim at Prestige using their super duper new online quote system.

£362 with a £0 voluntary excess.

But

£620 compulsory excess!

FRO!!

Can't honestly say they did Nev.  I've been with ClassicLine now for about 3 or 4 years and always paid around the £250 mark.
