Hello!

I have a stage 2 supercharged Speedster, and I really love it. But on some tight roads, I feel that I have lost some of the driving experience because the engine is almost too flexible. I don't know if you understand what I mean, but the corners comes up too quickly. I love the SC on the track and in general, but it would be nice to be able to "disconnect" it.

Has anyone tried to put the vacuum hose on the SC butterfly valve on the other side in order to keep it open at all times, thus reducing the charge pressure?

Thanks for any input!

Andreas

You can technically fit a boost controller to limit boost, but I'm not sure it would give you the characteristics you desire.

That's how its done in the standard LSJ engine.

I agree though that I miss the requirement to nail the engine on some tighter roads - 3rd gear with a SC covers just about everything!

Make it run 350 hp + then go back to stage 2 it then feels like a NA again

I'm the exact reverse. I find my SC makes for a much better road car with it's flexibility and instant boost. I just don't enjoy it as much on a track as I did when it was a tuned NA and had to work it harder. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Rosssco, thanks for the diagram. Looks like if I want to run atmospheric pressure or close to this, I can just connect the vacuum hose to the other tube in on the valve diaphragm actuator, which would be like a manual on/off boost controller. 3rd gear is all I need to be effortlessly fast on tight roads, correct.

Siztenboots: I know, but it's not satisfying to give half throttle and at the same late gear shifts. Its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. :)

techieboy, For me it depends a lot about which roads, I agree on a lot of roads that the SC is more fun, but it's also very easy to go fast with. On the track, I'm usually driving with much faster 911s with 500hp+, so I need all I can get in terms of straight line speed! :)

Appreciate the answers!

SC stage 2 seemed to work ok in Milton Keynes. Perhaps you need more roundabouts? ;0

I find the SC better on both road and track.

On the road, I got no enjoyment from strangling the z22 - it's just not a very tuneful engine. With the SC I can use the torque and enjoy the handling without having to suffer the z22 drone. On the motorway it's capable of pulling 5th gear properly.

On track, the power is now more matched to the handling (although some more power would be nice).

SC stage 2 was perfect for the trip around the highlands i've just done, plenty of power to overtake anything necessary and not too much power to remain fun. Only gripe was 160miles per tank is not enough in the Highlands.

SC2 for me is perfect for both road and track. Wet road and knackered a48s and forgetting you're driving a vx then sc2 can be a bit too powerful.

I haven't driven too much on the roads in the UK (other than the highways), but we do have some really tight (and fantastic!) roads in Norway where at least I find it fun with a low powered car. As soon as the speeds are above 120km/h (70-80mph) the extra boost is very welcome. Or on roads with larger radius turns.

What do you all have the rpm limiter set to? I have the Dutch ECU, but I really want to set this so low that I can abuse it within the RPM limits both on road but also on track.

True, but the like minded tend to head for the same roads to enjoy them. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

RPM limit depends on your engine mods, especially cams and valvesprings.

Standard 2.2 Stage 2 SC; 7000 max?

Mine is set at 6800rpm for safe use on road and track.
