I'm thinking about fitting an aftermarket back box on my Speedster Turbo, to make it sound better, and I would like to know whether or not that can be done without removing the cat and precat?

If it does involve removing the precat, do you recommend swapping it for a downpipe without precat? Is there much to gain in terms of sound and extra power?

Also, is there a tutorial with photos anywhere on the net, showing how to remove the exhaust on a Turbo? I haven't found one.

Standard turbo exhaust is a very tight fit, removal involves bending the clam and much swearing.  Remove the U bend, leave the rest in place.  Precat replacement pipe is a standard mod, saves some weight and gains a little flow.

Biggest problem, other than lack of space, will be corroded fixings.

As Pidgeon says. Your arse will twitch as you pull down on the underside of the clam trying to lever the old box out. Also really needs two people.
