Hi I have a 2 gauge pod, one for boost (tubby) and was interested in what other people have? Is it more important to have oil temp or pressure if you are tracking the car?? Many thanks for your help Ben

AFR and boost gauges are the most important in my opinion.

Oil pressure and oil temperature here though I only vaguely monitor oil temps when I'm on track. The rest of the time I pay neither any attention, though it's surprising how long it takes for the oil to get up to normal operating temperatures.

Can't see the point of AFR or Boost gauges. AFR changes around too much and means little once a car is tuned properly and boost gauge seem pointless unless you're diagnosing something. If it hasn't got any boost, you'll know about it.

I went for a boost gauge and a voltmeter - easy to rig up and allows me to track battery charge. But the buchos pod and gauges look awesome in my opinion - with mine it's more aesthetic than functional 👍

I use my cellphone to monitor engine water temp, and SC inlet temp (tmap).

The first as i cannot see the water temp on the regular dash (and killed an engine due to that), and the SC temp warned me early enough when one of my wiring to the chargecooler pump went bust.

I will also be adding the kpa from the map sensor, as that will tell me if the cat went pop, and pressure will go up.

So all based on stuff that can actualy go wrong on track, pulled fom the obd dongle.

I've got:

- oil temperature: useful to see when you can finally start hitting the accelarator

- oil pressure: just something to worry about

- battery voltage: came with one of the gauges. Never look at it

- SC cooling water temperature: no use whatsoever

- AFR: like watching a random number generator that's stuck between 14.4 and 15.0. Never used the actual gauge

On track I'm too busy to watch any gauges. I think a shift light would be helpful. On track anything that indicates temperature is just alarming until you get used to it.

Inlet temps, boost, oil temps, battery, afr so far. Will be fitting oil pressure soon. What would you guys say normal operating temps for oil is and what is classed as high? It seems to sit around 60 degrees when motorway driving?

Funometer, although it's installed on the drivers seat - not on the dash. :)

Also a rattlemeter in the same place. :(

do you have no engine "blackouts" by reading the data via the obd port?

I have a PLX Devieces OBD Multigauge - but when connected to the obd port the engine have these little "blackouts" every 10 minutes.

No, i've been running torque like that using a bluetooth adaptor for over a year.

No a single hickup. (that was with 2 active values. Will add Kpa on the next trackday in may)

Seems like i have to look for an andriod phone. These Hicups are not good when driving hard. Does boost pressure work on your torque app? On my plx gauge it does not work.

I find update is too slow for any meaningful results when on the fly.

These Hicups are not good when driving hard. I know. I get them using obdtuner when logging. Never with torque though. Does boost pressure work on your torque app? On my plx gauge it does not work.

I get the hickups when running obdtuner logging.

Not with the torque app though.

Will try the boost values this weekend.

edit; we seem to have had this discussion before:

http://www.vx220.org...ner-multi-gauge

And from the responses it seems that on a turbo car the boost cannot be read from the ecu.
