I'm on a 2.6 Smiley.

So I've been out all day in the car mapping. It seems to be behaving itself so far and we have managed to gain some power with the map a little closer to where I want it.

Even in 3rd it is now becoming difficult to carry out a run without breaking traction low down which is what can be seen in the run. Anyway today's results below.....

2.6"! No wonder you're hitting them kind of figures. Would be interesting to put a comparable size one on like others (3.05") and see what you hit. Interested to see what the added capacity of the bore and liners gives to the power. Either way it's going to be a fantastic car to drive and itching to hear your opinion of the power on road use.

2.7 should make it comparible with Lee 2.2 V cobra 2.4 That's when lee is able to connect again Lol Richard can you also post the detail on the left hand side of the page 👍

can you post the powerrun log, or a proper printscreen? (right mouseclick in the powerecurve screen...)

Still running 1,15 bar boost with this 70mm on the street?

I'd really consider putting wider tyres on if you possibly can, if you are spinning up even in 3rd on dry tarmac that is something to fear.

Have you considered mapping out some ignition at low RPM to keep the torque down so you can still plonk your foot down at low/mid RPM and not have the fear of God ? Maybe a low/mid RPM bypass valve to mechanically keep boost down as an alternative?

I find that lots of mid range torque is good, but only until you reach around 300 ft/lb - then you need to control it at low to mid RPM, so that you keep mid range drivable. Then if you want to really put the beans down you can take the revs up to say 6000+ where the map can unleash the whole lot, i.e. a steadily/lightly rising rate torque line is more drivable than a flat line throughout IMO.

Great results, a bit of a surprise to see a newcomer come along and push the bar so high. What is your IC solution again please?

I often find putting in a closed loop feedback circuit between brain and right foot is sufficient (Either that, or don't build a spastic engine to begin with)

Yep boost is still peaking and holding at around 1.1-1.2Bar. It will be ran on the street in this setup. 1st and 2nd are a bit deadly but third is ok as long as your sensible. Need to get a diff fitted now as a one tyre fire is not such a good look  :P.

Nev this is still running the regular dual pass inlet manifold. So it shows we can push past the 400bhp mark if wanted....though some of my power will be coming from the capacity. I plan to do a billet manifold over the winter along with a coupe conversion......who knows maybe 500 is possible.....almost used to the 460bhp already hahaha.

Full shot of the power curve as promised....

stout :) 8k rpm - i see youre running eagle H beams? which fasteners did you get with them? theyre not bad rods by any means, but youre starting to dance on the edge of their sustainability

Eagle rods for the Ecotec 2.2 should have 3/8" ARP 2000 bolts. (Eagle say the rods are good for 900HP, but that may be a bit optimistic...)

neither hp nor torque will kill the rod in this situation, rpm will. more specifically rpm kills the fasteners, distorts the big end, and fucks your bearings. 86mm stroke and 8000rpm isnt bad, but its about all id throw at ARP2000 3/8" fasteners imho rating an aftermarket rod for HP is complete wankery. the numbers are meaningless. that said, eagle and their various rebrands arent bad, but theyre nothing flash. best to play them on the conservative side (hp thresholds for OEM sintered rods is a slightly different story as the material is so narrowly optimised, the rod will break from torque load well before the fasteners come into play)
