So it begins,

after matt did a Sterling job on the geo and put the car on stilts for the naysayer's!  i have tasked matt with getting the old vx to 400 evens engine/torque! its agreed that matt can do an engine LEH build, as my old LET engine was burning oil to the same ratio as fuel , matt can try out his EMU standalone and knock his self out! and now i have some time ill do the rest, pipework bolt on all the bit and bobs and time consuming detail.

Remit

400 bhp 400 torques but drivable not for just a dyno chart.

Air filter on far side ear

ditch the Air mass sensor (bane of my existence)

using my old

EDS manifold and eds bend

primary design exhaust manifold

sachs clutch

old charge cooler rad

pipercross cone filter

old 2.5" milltek exhaust

have a new

EMU standalone

infamous front anti roll bar

change my Garrett GT28/60RS as its shot for something else modern ?

Blimey, ages since we saw/heard from you Iram.

The Garrett GTX2867 is good, but if I were in your position I'd be tempted to use a twin scroll and also aim for around 450 BHP which is when the car really comes alive IMO (and won't cost any more either). You must be tired of 360 BHP by now anyway ;)

BTW, a 2.5" exhaust is a bad idea in this set up, it will mean the turbo has to work too hard, higher IATs and might overheat the cylinder head/exhaust valves.

GL.

The 2867 looks awesome dave , after looking at various tech details and wanting spool as quick as possible.  Also looking at cost implications and having a chat with owen's/matt ,we are going to use the centre of my existing turbo and try a garratt/owens 2865 HTA  and go V-band as the T flanges drive me crazy !  The figures will be interesting as there's not much on the HTA

It will mean that i will need to knock up a T-flange from exhaust manifold to v-band adoption plate

new 3" down pipe to marry up to milltek as every thing will be lower

but that's no problem as this can be done using my old engine as template

You say your 2860 is shot... This must mean the centresection. So how can you re-use it? Dual BallBearing turbo's cant be rebuild. If the centre is done, you need to buy a new one. Wich is allmost as expensive as a complete turbo.

Get the 2867. My mate has one on its sr20det Nissan. Great spool and enough puff. Would be my turbo if I upgrade one day  thumbsup

removed carbon canister ect  to make room for air intake,

reason

shorten intake pipework.

give more room for hot air to exit engine bay.

it looks messy.

next job  working out the spacing and whether to use my old cooler or go pro alloy

out with the old charge and in with the new blank pro alloy to seat in a lower position than normal to allow for air intake.
