Dear all, We have not had a debate for a while.... My main turbo oil seal appears to be leaking and boost is also not as smooth as it was so I need to replace Asap. I would like people's opinions on what to replace it with. I'm running a Z20LET on MMG stage 2 with full Miltek and 100 cell cat. (Most likely the cause of the failed oil seal I think) I do not have plans to take power further and I'm looking for drive ability and reliability. Ultimately I would like to get the best value possible on a budget below £700. Please let me know your thoughts and recommendations on a reputable supplier. Thanks for your help, Jon

If you're not planning on any more power, just get a K04 hybrid core for approx £300.

KRS as I've mentioned to you are spot on. There's also RnD, AET, Turbo Dynamics. Owen Developments are top quality too, although may be out of your budget.

If you'll be after more power in future get a K06, again from any of the above. You will need a remap to suit though. But you'll get power holding to the redline rather than dying off like the K04 does.

Avoid NKK turbos like the plague.

Also tried Courtenays but they will not warranty without their mapping and that makes it very expensive.

Cheers Alex, I have e mailed them but I'm yet to hear back. That's a good price to be honest . CS want £490 just for a Z20LEH standard unit and claim this is the best price in the UK....

If that's a not an exchange unit, that's an excellent price.

If it's an exchange unit, it's ok.

But as mentioned above, check it has the updated seals.

LEH outright - 55559850

Vauxhall LEH exchange - R1630035

Opel LEH - 93169524 (For any people across the water)

There is no supersession information present but the part number has IDENT DZ associated with it so there many be a chance if the turbocharger does not have IDENT DZ on it that it may not have the updated seals and you would be best advised to fit an oil restrictor.

How come we have not bumped into one another before? I see you are in Melton Mowbray, not far from Newark....

Not the furthest distance, but I certainly wouldn't want to walk it!

To be fair, we're not as active on here as we used to be which probably explains it.

I always thought DZ was the actuator preload setting from factory

I'm only familiar with IDENT's on wheels to be honest (of which we have quite a lot of IDENT's for the same wheel), perhaps I assume incorrectly that for turbochargers in this case, it may not mean that it's a certain revision of it. Naff advice, apologies.

After googling a little, giant DZ sticker on the actuator - you're probably right sir!

Yep. Sizetenboots was right and I think Courtenays think that I must be on some funny drugs now.... 😛

Thanks all for your advice. I have decided to stick with a standard Z20LEH turbo but I'm going to go for an MMG stage 3 intercooler and remap to make the most of it. Boy this car is a money pit.... 😛
