A good salesman should deliver good customer service - the sale is just the result of this happening.

You'd be surprised how complex (and conversely how simple) good customer service is.

I'd absolutely love to give the dealer network of these types of places a shake up in what the customer wants, versus what they think the customer wants.

Lost my wrag at a dealership today!

Had a good test drive then started to discuss the overall "deal"

Sales guy backwards & forwards to see his Business Manager after every proposal and refusal/counter proposal. In the end i asked to see the decision maker and was told i had to work through the sales guy  . 2 minutes later i was out of the dealership saying my thanks & goodbyes saying i'll go elsewhere. Sales guy still telling me we can work something out whilst i drove off :D . His number is now blocked on my phone  ;)

Why do they thing Joe Public has got time to waste to play their games thumbsdown

And yes, in case you're wondering, I'm not the most tolerant of people in these scenarios  :P  :P

I'll be very surprised if you get anything from Seat, I'm 10 years + out of the new car/main dealer side of things now but I expect that your registration has been cancelled. End of quarters are March, June, September & December with March & September being the more important obviously

you should try main dealer servicing if you get bored of their sales people;   I took my car to the local vauxhall main dealer for it's first service (just for the service stamp / warranty), at 4300 miles they told me that it needed two front tyres and a new set of front brake pads.   They even kept a straight face when they said that will be £800 extra and do they want me to go ahead with the work    They seemed surprised with my answer ... do not touch my car :angry2:   Front tyres had 5mm of thread remaining and the brake pads had 8mm left :ffs:

Crownhill by any chance Vocky? They tried the same trick with me on brakes. I had oem drilled discs and they tried to tell me my front pads were 80% to 90% worn and all the discs needed replacing. Estimated cost.....£1200. Imagine the look on his face when I offered to prove the pads were changed 2 weeks previously. That was the end of my relationship with them.

When ever I have went into a dealership interested in buying a new car, no more then 2 minutes in to talking to them I end up wanting to leave as fast as possible.

No matter the industry the same rule applies. Decent product + good customer service = good sales. And no, not all salespeople are thick as sh*t, but a good number are just twats.

4 years ago I took my 320d to Dick Lovett for MOT. They failed it on a worn suspension link and a chip on the windscreen. Suspension link £750 fitted, must be done both sides at the same time. £1500 plus windscreen excess. I told them to stick it, went to another garage, passed without problems. Nothing wrong with the suspension, windscreen chip too small to count. 65k miles later, those parts are still on my car and still fine. Complete scam.

Not quite 😛 I was very clear from the start, give me your best take it or leave it deal and I'll give you my black or white answer. It was after this bit that they then decided they could perhaps go a bit more

I know, and this was with a marque whose dealerships are regarded as one of the best in the industry. Conversation with a dealership of another marque was exactly how I like it. Here's the offer valid for 7 days, let us know if you want to go ahead, we won't chase you. No games, just clarity

With new cars sales going down, income is shifting to the maintenance department, incl bad practices. That is why more and more dealers are going bust, and universal garages are booming.
