I wish JG would get a bigger tank  had to stop every five minutes to fill up on way back from Zandvoort (and pump up my puncture but that's another story)

Not massive, just a little time consuming. Hardest part is disconnecting and reconnecting the pump and fuel lines. Would be alot easier to open up the access hatch and just make a new plate to cover it. Depends if you mind hacking that area a little. It can be done through the factory sized hole, its just fiddly

I have the 48L one, and it gives me about 4 hours of motorway driving. I also seem to remember that with the 48, you dont gain any weight over a full standard tank, as the weight saved by the ally tank off sets it.

Getting the filler hose off the old tank can be a pain too

Its not a bad job to do and like everything its certainly easier second time around. The biggest PITA is that poxy fuel pump circlip, the aluminium tank is much harder to get the clip in than the standard steel tank.

Its a worthwhile mod. I can run the car on fumes around hard left handers without any fuel starvation issues and can get over 300 motorway miles to a tank (300bhp tubby).

How nasty was the steel tank looking when it came out?
