Is there anyone in the South West who can repair the F23 turbo gearbox. It will physically not go into 2nd gear. Every other gear is fine and the cables work freely. Any advice or a.pointer in the right direction would be most appreciated

It could just be one of the selector cables. Are you able to get 2nd at all? i.e. Will it go in with the engine off. If you don't make any progress with it I am quite happy to take a quick look on Friday when I pop over.

Hi Mark. Unfortunately the cables are free. I was hoping someone would come up with a magic solution but have to accept its a box out job. I look forward to meeting you on Friday.

Have you tried putting it in second at the gearbox end by hand?

It will be cheaper to simply buy a second hand box.

The boys at courtenay took mine out and passed it onto a local specialist but that's a little far for you. If you know someone who can remove it (or if you can) then any gearbox specialist should be able to fix it. It's a bog standard GB after all.

Do make absolutely sure it's not the cables though. You would be gutted to have the box in out for no reason.

If it was a pair (or more) of gears I'd say cables too, but to lose one would imply it's box related

BK Transmission are good and based in Whitchurch near Basingstoke. Used them a few times with no issues and would use them if i had an issue with the F23.

:yeahthat:   I'd put my money on a snapped selector fork. Once the box is out its a very easy job to remove the selector mechanism yourself to see if this is the issue (it was on mine).

Many thanks for all your help and all the information supplied however as mentioned the cables are fine so have to get the box out and go from there.
