Hi All,

I have been talking to the guys at Speedline to agree some conditions for a potential group buy on the VXR (style) Speedline Corse Wheels. I am desperate for a set so am happy to try and co-ordinate!

A group buy is available for the Aluminium (not Magnesium) Black VXR 220 Style 5 Spoke Wheels. An image of the wheel design below (taken from a previous thread!).

Fronts are 7J x 16 and Rears 8J x 17.

We would require a sizeable total of 24 sets to activate the group buy due to the minimum order quantities for the special production run of the rears.

In regards to cost, it would be a little pricey at £720 inc VAT as a guide, however Speedline have agreed to do everything they can to bring to cost down.

I thought I would float the idea as I know they are hard to come by and there may be an appetite.

Its worth noting I am not negotiating a special price for myself or anything and will take any wheels at the same price as everyone else if we can get there!

Should we start a list?

Joe

That's a good price if you can generate the interest.

That's a very good price. Second hand they're 1k. But they weigh a fucking ton, totally inappropriate for a VX. No chance of mag ones?

All 4 wheels weight almost exactly the same as oem turbo wheels. I've weighed both sets.   http://www.vx220.org...s/#entry1607906

Great. Someone else checked against some obvious alternatives: "I weighed the standard wheels with Bridgestones, and the TD's with R888r's on weighed 14 kilos in total less than the standard wheels so a bit of saving in the unsprung weight too." TL;DR: VXR speedlines weigh a ton (they're strong rally wheels). OEM wheels weigh a ton (they're made of soft cheese). Some other wheels weigh a lot less :)

Gloss black I believe..i will double check tomorrow. They aren't the lightest wheels but they do look awesome. Magnesium is not an option sadly. If there is an appetite then let's get a list going! J

Magnesium gets old and cracks. Ok for race cars that 'life' there wheels. Not so great on the road.

I am very interested if there is an option on colour (I hate black wheels with a passion). Also if this is a new run wouldnt it be worth getting the fronts made in 7.5 or 8.0j for those of us who like to use 205-225 on track? It may open the amount of interest considerbly

And just found this pic of the placement I used for the fronts:

Posted Image

I spent ages trying to get the alignment as close as possible to the original placement which was painted onto the wheels.

On the fronts this means that the 'S' of Speedline starts in the curvature of the wheel centre.  That way the right hand side of the decal on both front and rears is the same distance from the rim.  Plenty of pics on google of original VXR Speedlines to confirm this seems.

I'm a bit anal about things like this.

205 fit fine on the standard Speedline front.  That's what I've got fitted (AD08R) in the pic above.  205/45/16 to be precise.

Yep looks ok but with a 7.5j a 215 or 225 front would also be possible. Kind of like with the ATS DTC sizes, it gives more options for potential buyers thumbsup

Good luck with the sale. You might want to ask them if it would be cheaper/easier to make them in 4x100, and if so consider a swap to lotus hubs.

Bit of a pain to swap discs too, but I found the lotus fitment opened up a load of wheel options.

You can buy speedlines 2110 in 4x100 off the shelf, but only in a 7" rear. But if you can't make up the sets required it could give you another option.

Awesome wheels, I used to run them on my Corrado. Weighed a ton though.

Not anal enough to realise that the decal should be one spoke round to the right from the valve and not opposite like yours! 😂😝
