Calling all engine gurus !

Bought a replacement z22se engine and the injector holes have plastic extension inserts - any idea what they are for ?

I can take them out and i can keep them due to the design of the two fuel rails - are there any benefit to keeping them ?

John

Probably a Vectra engine.

You could keep them, but your fuelrail would have to use the aluminium extenders also for it to work.

It's only interesting if you use longer injectors then oem.

They are called "insulators". Does not matter on the injector length (they should be all the same length for a Z22SE/B207), but the spaced out fuelrail can be helpfull for a supercharger install.

Also they influence the injector spray angle, but not sure on the effect of that...

Yep, had to pull some from one of my B207 engines and fit them in my Z22SE head (along with the rail spacers) when we fitted the Siemens injectors as the injector plugs were in the way and doing this gave enough space for a tidy install.
