Original clutch was on the car for 70000 miles

(35000 of those supercharged at 255 bhp). Was still great when replaced.

Courtenay fast road, was on the car for 6500 miles.

Car has 260 bhp. Clutch disintegrated while on track.

When in doubt buy original or get the competition clutch.

To add to this, I fitted a OEM Vauxhall clutch to mine after swapping the engine and have had constant clutch slip since fitting. I convinced myself that a standard one would be fine after 89k of driving with the original one, however I should have gone for a C20LET one.

done nearly 100,000 on the helix group N , it had been fine upto about 400 , but with new map stuggles in 4/5th below 4000rpm, on track I never notice it as run upto 8000 before having to go 3rd to 4th

Hi Martin,

That's very interesting, the same thing happened to my fast road clutch over the Summer, this was in a n/a.

Jez took my old one out and put a new fast road in I think there must be a manufacturing fault with them.

Give him a call.

Elliot

I have had courtenays fast road clutch in my car now for 50k and its had everything from standard power to circa 350. Its still fine now. The friction plate i think is just a standard luk one but the pressure plate is a c20let one. I have just replaced a clutch this morning and the clutch kit i got from euro wouldnt clamp the friction plate, got one from autovaux and even tho its an identical part number from luk it fits perfectly... Go figure. I wonder if this could be a reason why some are failing.? I reccomend the coutrenays upgrade tho, or should i say the c20let pressure plate anyway.

The Question is does Martin buy  a competition clutch from courtenay or is there a cheaper way of getting the same clutch  c20let pressure plate and standard clutch ?

I'm running less torque than I did when it was a 2.2 ecotec.

Exmanta suggested that a C20LET clutch is doing fine on cars in Holland with up to 350 bhp .

I just want it reliable so just want one that is good unlike the courtenays sport one.

I have it on good authority that the Courtenays sport clutch is just a Saab (Oh lordy I hate that name) one, with the numbers ground off.
