Does anybody know who built the two sprint cars for GM. One was rolled at Castle Coombe and the other was used as a race car after Vauxhall sold it

We were the ONLY UK tuner to work with Lotus on this project. Throughout the project working closely with Vauxhall and Lotus, we learnt what would and would not work consistently on this engine, particularly in this installation and where the limits lie." ?

Built by the Lotus Sport & Performance centre. The first one, the NA, had S1 Exige uprights, wishbones, suspension & brakes, an Elise roll bar and A-frame bracing. It was used by a few journos on hillclimbs and sprints before being sold on.

 

The second one, was mainly a tuned VXT on a standard platform. Courtenay tuned the engine and fitted an Aquamist water injection kit. I think it had A-frame and diagonal forward brace, as I remember getting in and out was quite awkward. Rolled and written off as you said. Not sure by who, but I think it was a press event. JT posted photos soon after.

The original sprint (2.2) surrendered some of it's parts for the turbo version, I don't know what exactly, it was then purchased by a guy that had been involved/employed by Vauxhall on the motorsport side of things for years (Andrew Duerden) The rebuilt 2.2 car was at Silverstone a few years ago when Vauxhall/VXR were doing the driving experience during the day, track evening in the evening

I saw the car on Andrew's drive a long time ago when we sold him a car (got to be 5 years ago ish). Not sure if he still has it although at the time he said he had no plans to sell it.
