Hi guys looking for some reassurance on a racelogic unit…been offered this untested unit removed in 2012 for 100 worth the punt.

Looking at the pictures…the kit seems all there…anyone that’s fitted one of these could you please give my pic a quick once over to see its all there.

Looking through past posts

- I would need to buy a noise filter, anyone know the price of these.

-clutch under pedal sensor isnt there, I believe its only required for full-throttle shifting….im not looking to enable this

feature.

-vx220 has abs, hence wont require the abs sensors.

Im only looking for the traction control and launch control feature.

*how to guide

Pictures seem to be missing from the n/a racelogic install dummies guide ….anyone have the guide saved with pics, I will try and pm the original poster.

Thanks

That looks OK.  My install was on a Turbo, with the "Digital Adjuster", so somewhat different - but it looks like you've got the main unit and a non-digital adjuster there.

You need a serial port to link to a PC to configure it - is that the funny red and grey connector?  Would just need wiring in if not.

Hard to tell from the pic, but you'll probably need to extend various wires!

I've got some pictures from my Turbo, if that would help.

Any how to pics will be great mate....i think the serial connector is hiding behind the controller i hope :0...totally right about the cable they have been cut short at somepoint...unit will be arriving this weekend.

Fingers crossed its a good one, was removed from a M3 for insurance purposes, was installed and removed by the same person and confirmed it was working before removal, hopefully it will power up when i get it.

Thanks

In the hope this helps... Setup requires putting the unit into calibration mode by plugging a specific adapter into the diagnostic lead. If you don't have the adapter, it's very easy to make one. Just google 'serial loopback'.

I fitted a four channel ABS unit to mine before installing the Racelocic unit. I don't know anything about installing these things but know a man who does, so he installed everything in a way that enables it to be removed in the event of my selling the car to someone who doesn't want to have it installed.

I've tried doing silly things to see if it kicks in and so far seems to work, mine has the digital facia unit that displays settings which I find helpful.

I/we decided the clutch switch wasn't worth fitting either.

To be perfectly honest with you I don't know. My feelings were after reading various posts on this forum that I would upgrade the system to a four channel.

I'm sure people on this forum have a better understanding of such things and may be able to provide an answer to this question for you, with me it was all part of my upgrade programme.

Racelogic do a kit with longer leads for rear engine cars. I have it on mine.  You should check if it's the longer lead kit or if you will have to extend them if required.

You can make the filter for a few pounds with parts from maplins (Should have the diagram somewhere) its not complicated.

I've fitted RLTC to both my VXs and an Exige, wouldn't be without it, amazing in the wet. I didn't bother with the clutch switch so can't attest to the launch function.

Does anyone know if replacement looms or the digital adjuster can still be bought? Only noticed yesterday that the product is officially discontinued.

I was able to hit the small loom for the pc interface about a year ago, but it was expensive.

Here's the filter diagram...

Well, once again I'll add my usual four penn'orth here.  I was the first to do a Racelogic TC self install on the VX.  I have no filter and I have never experienced problems at low speeds.  I've pondered this and I can only think that this is down to the install.  My ABS lines run without (shielding) through the driver's sill and the TC ECU is mounted on the boot bulkhead inside the engine compartment, with shielding.

This summer however something interesting came to light.  The de. guide recommends mounting the TC unit behind the left hand seat where everyone seems to mount it.  I mounted something in that position which was sensitive to electromagnetic interference.  It wouldn't work because there was so much interference in that area, and I had to move it elsewhere.  So I suspect behind the left hand seat though convenient, is not a good place to mount the TC unit.

I fitted a filter on my current VX, not on the previous cars as I had no percievable issues at low speed.

I did have low speed problems on this car so built a filter (costs about a fiver to make) but the filter didnt sort it and when I looked at the signals on a scopemeter one of the front hubs was returning noisy/intermittent pulses, the other three were adequate but not great.

I replaced all four hubs and this gave good clean signals to my RLTC (mounted in the boot near the relays and picking up its rpm signal from the start inhibit relay). Its been behaving itself since then though I've left the filter in place just in case.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has managed to run their VX TC without the filter - I was beginning to wonder.

Out of interest, when you made up the filter from the diagram, what wattage were the 4 x 10ko resistors?

Fuel Pump perhaps?
