A good day out, really nice to see some good friends again.

It was very much a learning day for me as have hardly driven the Exige hard anywhere and it was my first track day in it.

Started in the damp and all felt ok, played with tyres pressures a bit and it goes great, handles well and brakes well for an un modified car. Worryingly loud though, as got 101 db on the static!

At this time I cant pedal it as well as my vx. Bumped into steve I am a couple of times and where we previously would have had a good scrap, I had to let him go as he was flying and, even more concerning, had trouble getting past well driven Exige S2's (something that was never a problem in the vx).

I know I need to get braver in it as am well off its limits and in particular find a way of better gear changes (the thing simply will not blip going down gears) but I planned this not being as hard core as my vx and its a great thing to drive on the road as it sounds great and is amazingly comfy. It really is like a GT version of an Elise/vx.

All the vx's were flying as always and looking forward to my next one.

Martin S (I'm afraid always a vx'er no matter what I'm in)

Good to hear you enjoyed the v6s on track, the 101db is a worry, I had mine tested at Rockingham in touring mode and only revved it to 4k which was way less db.

I think pushing it to the limits it would be a great car but its that new car feeling stopping it and driving like a madman.

But as you say, its a std car which does well and is fantastic on the road.

They made me rev to 5250 so the exhaust valve was open.

How does that 2 tubular get on track?

Swap box for td's ?

I would but I cant afford it as I'm owed money by a northern lad with a black Exige!

It doesn't get on track - well it will on some, but not on most. Its probably about the same as an evora 400.

I meant you'll have to swap the backboxes over for track days.

Now, you've called me northern, you're never getting it back!

My VX recorded 87db on the static noise test at Brands which seemed very low compared to tests at other tracks - it normally does around 90. So Martin given that you're screwed elsewhere mate. Only kidding.

Anyway, on this trackday my car was getting through a tank of fuel in 45 mins track time. I refilled after the 11am session, did the 12pm, 2pm and 3pm sessions (the 12pm session was only 5 minutes due to those stoppages) and it was back on refill. I worked that out to be 6.6 gallons in 45 mins, with some very rough sums giving 9 MPG. Is it broken?

9mpg sounds about right, Chill gets 6 I get around 8 (turbo).

You were driving well Steve. Don't think I'll be doing sessions again. The arrival was a proper scrum behind the pits. Theres not a huge amount of space and even less with a few groups all arriving at once and race trucks trying to park. Also the start of every session is bunched up so you're either constantly going offline to get overtaken or trying to get past a slower car. Didn't help trying to get into a rhythm.

All it needs is 1 red flag to ruin your session, and that happened a few times.

Having said that really enjoyed the day and although cloudy and a bit chilly at times it was mainly dry running.
