Hi all, After a little bit of advice. Long story short, I don't have a cup holder and 12v plug in my N/A. So, looking for potentially swapping the current head unit I have for one that had a USB & Aux ports on the front - where the USB provides enough juice to charge either a phone or SatNav. Does anyone currently have one fitted? Or could recommend one? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I ran an Alpine 173BT in a previous car and it charged my android phone fine.

hi i had long term issues with the car battery holding charge. This was eventually traced to the Kenwood unit that was installed having a fault on the permanent  live feed.

to rule out other issues i bought a new head unit from ebay. i think it was around £15.

it charges my phone, plays music from the radio, phone, sd card or usb stick, and has hands free via. bluetooth. It doesn't have a cd drive, but it's no problem to put music onto the phone.

so, I installed it as a temporary measure, and it's still there.

lets face it, the VX is not acustically very good at anything over 30mph, so is it really worth going high spec

I also fitted a cheapy bluetooth/sd card headunit which does the job well (similar price from amazon) One other advantage: MUCH lighter than a standard CD player!

Got an Alpine one currently - which is mega. (Previous owner somewhere down the line has fitted aftermarket speakers and a sub) - still hearing music clear-ish at 50 with the roof off although, the Larini drowns most of it out! Ha. Just need something with a USB for charging out the front! Will have a look around for something , cheers chaps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ive got a Sony Bluetooth unit - and stream music through my phone (and sat nav instructions from Waze or other phone Sat NAV at the same time).  I've given up on CD's now completely.  It also has a USB port on the front, i use that for charging the phone.
