I bought one of those S1 Elise seats from Paul for a little project.

Thought I'd try making it a wing back probax-alike. So it starts like this:

I riveted on some 3mm plastic sheet to get the curvature the same and laid up some fibreglass not it. Trimmed up to this:

I used the plastic to flange round the top. A wee bit of sanding and priming gave me this:Posted Image

Looks about right.

The plan is to mould it but I did notice that the additions are very rigid so you could convert oem seats fairly easily and just cover them.

This one is pretty easy. That was my main reason for posting it up. I'd expect people could use this method to convert seat shells themselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice project!

Keep in mind though that S1 shell seat backs/headrests are lower than the VX/S2 seats. Regulation changes in 2001 made taller seat backs/headrests compulsory for type approval.

No biggie in itself, but some taller people may find their head now extends well above the edge of the seat on an S1 shell compared to a VX/S2 seat.

Bye, Arno.

I didn't know that, all good info. Perhaps I should do a Vx seat if one comes up cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I may have a set of VX seats up soon depends if my wife wants to have a play around recovering them or not.

Several months later and I've moulded it. Latest production looks like this:

3kg of spread tow goodness. Straight out of the mould so needs lacquering for the shine.
